These chaps:

Are currently ranked as paintjob 4.75, coolness 4.5.

I'm a bit disappointed by that. I know they aren't super, but I understood 5 to be "tabletop" quality, so I would personally put them somewhere around 6 - The banner's all freehand, you know

Bear in mind I've painted quite a chunk of the army now, so can't really change the style, but I am after some constructive comments that I can maybe apply to my next project.

A couple of other bits from this army, just for larfs:

My guess is folks aren't jazzed about the colors. They background is a bit bright. I'd retake the pictures on a battlefield with some terrain. I bet you will get better results. Its a lot of blue in that field

what spireland said, also it's christmas time in the christian world, which means most people don't want to see another red/green diorama anywhere. if those models aren't better than tabletop quality, then i have zero hope of ever getting to anything close to tabletop quality.

The gallery can give weird votes just because everyone rates "tabletop" as a different number. I think they look good and are definately tabletop quality.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I also agree that everybody probably views quality differently. If you're happy with the way that they turned out, then that's all that should really matter. Personally they look pretty good to me. You might also try experimenting with some of your camera settings. I've found that that makes a huge difference when photographing my models in terms of visible details.
