i was looking on the Forge World website the other day, and i noticed there weren't much titans. like for imperial guard, space marines and chaos have got a few, but others only have one, even some races dontr have ANY! its crazy! i think they should make more titans, caus they are awsome! tell me what you think

What else would you have?

Eldar have one or two already, there are other massive things like the War Mammoth, Stompas and Tau Manta plus all the Thunderhawks.

While it would be nice I think we'll start seeing more Warhammer stuff in the new year alongside (hopefully) more new Imperial Fists stuff. Although quite how I'll justify buy yet more FW stuff in the near future I'm not sure, I've already used the VAT and free delivery ruse.

Eldar have three, actually. I do have to agree though, there are too few variants of each Titan size.

ok then, maybe there are more titans than i suspected, but they should make some more, just for the sake of it.
i kinda forgot about the tau manta, which is hard becase its MASSSIVE!

I also think the price of titans does affect the demand ok I have three but I have a decent amount of disposable income, others may not be so lucky so the huge price tag is prohibitive hence not enough demand for companies to create the models.

So, if they make them less expensive, they'll make more titans!
More titans?
For a cheaper price?
Sweeeeet!!!

of course, its unlikley they'll make them at a price we can all afford, even the young bloods. (im a youngblood, so it'll be a while till i can afford a titan!)

Cost is an issue, I love the warhounds but for the same cost as the body alone I got:

3 sets of Heresy era armour (plus the weapons and a charachter set).
2 Chaos Dreadnoughts with weapons.
Zhufor terminator.
Rhino.
Drop pod.
Sentinel.
plus a couple of other bits and bobs.

It's not that I couldn't afford one, just that I can't justify that much cash on one (albeit massive and cool) model. Hence my plan to scratchbuild one.

This is why forgeworld is optional. It makes specialist models and units. You've got as much chance of them lowering prices as games workshop itself lowering its prices ( Meaning slim to nil ).

dang.

i tried to scratch build a warhound tritan once, but it didnt turn out that well. it would make a pretty good voodoo doll

As for needing more titans, I'd love to see forgeworld come out with some more. However, you have to remember that a lot of races don't have, and have never had, titans or equivalent vehicles. For example, I'm pretty sure the dark eldar never did, or the necrons - although in their case I've no doubt they could just invent a titan-thing if they wanted.

As for things that exist but haven't been made, there's the warlord/chaos warlord, the eldar phantom and warlock titans, and a variety of bio-titans for the tyranids (the heirophant is only the smallest). There are also the ork gargants. Of these, the phantom is in production, and I'm pretty sure I heard that they wanted to make a warlord in a few years time - though they were going to make sure the reaver had a complete weapon set before then.

Oh, and how could I forget the Emperor-class titans? Although if one of those does ever get made, I hope they get rid of that stupid fething castle design. The new rules for it that they released for Apocalypse just don't fit with the old model very well (oh those tiny cannons in the turrets? That one's a plasma destructor, and that one's a vortex missile).

Which reminds me, I did a great sketch of one I should try and scan sometime...

Emperor titan would be ridiculous, it'd have to cost several thousand pounds if it was properly to scale, and probably hollow if it was going to stay together/not crumble under it's own weight.

Make it in metal and watch the table holding the board collapse.

I meant £'s, you know, wonga, moola, spondoolies, squiddly diddlies, real cash money.

Very roughly, going by that picture I think you'd be looking at about £2000. As nice as it might be to drool over in the catalogue, at that (complete guess of a) price they'll sell so few it's hardly worth designing the thing.

That's weird, I kept reading that as "several thousand points"... Well, the manta's about £1000 IIRC. £2000 for the emperor sounds about right.

Titans are great but you can only use them in apoc. They look great but they end up siting on a shelf like my Fortress of Arrogance.

Not such an issue for me as all of my models sit on a shelf/desk/in a cupboard so one more wouldn't hurt.

It still LOOKS really nice, and hey, you could always set up a friendly game where you get one or two superheavies, and your enemy gets the equivalent in regular forces.

Always quite fun to do.

We got the Tomb Stalker in the end. Just that it wasnt nearly as huge as we thought (or I thought) it would be.

Technically though, the Harridan and Hierodules are also all Biotitans, meaning Nids actually have 3 (4 if you count the two Hierodule variants as different titans). Trygons can classify as the mid-ground between the two. Tau do not use Titans, but rather heavy aircrafts like the Manta. On the Ork side, we have Gargants and Stompas, which are easily made from either the GW kit or scratch built. Mega and Meka Dreads also blur the line between small titan and large Dread.

We are still lacking a large portion of titans, but it's not entirely easy for them to design one and produce it, especially since they've prettymuch exhausted all of the "small" titans and now have to move onto the larger ones. The Eldar Phantom and Warlock titans are the same size as the Warlord, which makes them insanely huge to reproduce in FW's current Titan scale (FW's Titans are quite a bit larger than Armorcast ones, so it stands to reason that the Phantom and Warlock would be upsized from their Armorcast versions too).

Forge World is working on a phantom titan for the eldar, and I expect to see more titans being made available in the future.

From what I hear titans don't sell very well. Their only used in APOC and most people will only ever have 1 or 2. Combine that with how much cheaper is would be to build your own & they just don't move as much as the other stuff.

Top of the line, expensive products often don't sell very well. They are however nice for FW to point to and say 'Look at the shiny Titan!' and pop one on the front cover of promotional material.

Am I also right in thinking that they're made to order? That would make sense for such an expensive item.
