Tyranids do not ally with anything. Ever.

The closest to "allying" with a Tyranid is managing to get one as far away from the Hive Fleet and thus Synapse as possible, pray that your containment unit is strong enough to hold it, and hope that you're able to control it once it reverts to the feral/instinctual behavior that it's programmed with once outside the range of the Hive Mind. (Note that the likelyhood of this happening is next-to-nil.) Additionally, you'd also have to hope that you got lucky (in a sense, if you intend to keep/use them like beasts) and hope that you nabbed one of the ones with a digestive tract - otherwise it'll become irrelevant really quickly. As for every Ork in the galaxy... Orks have a tough enough time allying with themselves unless there's the promise of a big enough fight. Not to mention that the 'Nids want to strip the galaxy of life - what good is a galaxy with nothing to fight? Thus attempting to ally with the Tyranids is something that only the stupidest Snotling would think is a good idea, if they could process it. Closest the Orks would come is trying to capture a few 'Nids and try to use them as some kind of Squig/Squiggoth. So nothing would come of it because it wouldn't happen in the first place.

Ouze on GW: "I'd like to be like, hey baby, you're a freak but you just got too much crazy going on, and I don't hook up with bunny boilers. But then Necrons are going to come out, and I'm going to be like damn girl, and then next thing you know, it's angry sex time again.
It's complicated."

Fun fact - Tyranids outside of the Hive Minds influence can reproduce and build up a hive fleet anyway. As in Imperial Armour 4 - the Anphelion Project. From a few captures Hormagaunts, they reproduced all the way up to Heirophants.
Tyranids don't ally. They eat.

If just the Orks themselves could rally all of their scattered warbands, they could sweep the galaxy clean. They're just not interested.

You need to read up on both races to see why this just wont happen. Orks just want to fight. Tyranids just want to eat.

The closes thing that could happen is that some Orks might tame or maybe lash down with collars and such a Tyranid down.
This would go horribly wrong, they have enough problems with Squigs.
Squignids. (Claim.)

you are all forgetting the ork proprensity for psycic power; their WAAAAAAAGH! is essentially a version of the hive mind that does not control but boosts (dont read into that TOO far please) because of their "I believe i can shoot out of a peice of junk" prinicipal, there could theoretically be nids controlled or supported by a waagh... that brings a maniacal laugh to bear.

Why would orks need to control nids? They are already the best according to themselves.

Well, I guess it is possible. You see, when a Daddy Warboss and a Mommy Carnifex love each other very much, the Daddy Warboss will put on some Barry White on the 5.1 surround sound (heavy on the bass), and pour some Courvoisier while the Mommy Carnifex will put on a lacy little getup, some pumps....Ill be in my bunk.

Tyranids don't ally. They eat.
Except there was still a Hive Mind influence.
The Anphelion facility housed almost every species of Tyranid known to the Imperium. From Warriors to Rippers and Genestealers to Lictors.
It's why they had such huge enclosures, because they were housing a very large and diverse population. They wanted to see how the things interacted with each other.
What ultimately was Anphelion's downfall was the fact that they didn't sever that Hive Mind influence and only capture/contain non-Synapse creatures. That Synaptic link resulted in the Tyranids continually evolving, and eventually you had the Raveners, Trygons, and the Winged Warriors, etc.

There was also the case of a small swarm completely rebuilding Hive Fleet Leviathan from some biomass on Ghorala.

The closest you'll ever get to this conecpt is the X number of looted carnifex versions. You know, howdahs and hard-wired fex brains.
Beyond that, forget the idea. tops, you'd have them fighting the same imperial enemies by sheer coincidence but there would certainly be no brofist at the end (ala blood angels and necrons)

Imperial Armour IV: The Anphelion Project. It's basically the story behind Imperial Armour IV, giving Forgeworld a reason to do all of their Tyranid creatures.

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

The Trygon going into Codex Tyranids annoys the crap out of me. For one, it's too big. It should have stayed in Apocalypse. Secondly, Forgeworld pulled their Trygon model from their catalogue when GW released their plastic kit, and while being cheaper, there's some subtle differences that I prefer in the Forgeworld model.

Ditto, i'd rather have them make another unit than use the Trygon.

If anything, they should have just made it primarily a Mawloc kit with the ability to make a Trygon out of it, and dropped the Trygon from the codex. They would have still sold a lot of kits because the Mawloc is new, but still had their own plastic Trygon out there for people into Apocalypse.

If its just to rationalize why two armies are supporting one another you could always say the tyranid force is being drawn onto the battlefield to fight the opposing side due to lictor pheromones. These overriding their normal instinct to have a go at the closer imperial/alien forces.

Or you could go with the better rationalization(and one that's happened quite a few times in fluff) of the Tyranids and Space Wolves being engaged in combat, with the Orks showing up for the Big Fightin'.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please, let us not argue about who killed what and who allied with whom. The answer is simple, and very peaceful actually...
If every one just simply laid down their weapons, and allowed the Tyranids to consumer your biomass, then there would be no more fighting and everyone would be allies.
The Hive Mind loves you... and your delicious biomass.
