How about the orks using thier tellyporter stuff to transfer some of a hive fellt into a safe place in the warp (thus avoiding the hive mind) and hardwiring thier brains overiding the need to feed and the hive mind then use them to fight and make a small hive fleet of thier own hardwired killin things

Squigs. Yes, that's right. Squigs. The Squiggly beasts are the result of 'nids trying to Genestealer Cult some Ork spores, but were too unpredictable for the Hivemind, and so got assimilated into Orkish kultur.

While everyone else has pretty much nailed why this is completely impossible fluff wise, lets talk hypothetically with extra big quotation marks what would happen if the Tyranids allied with the Orks. Well for one it wouldnt be all of Orkdom united with every Tyranid everywhere, as Orks have a hard enough time allying with each other as it is and Tyranid hive fleets whilst controlled by the same hive mind are all relatively self sufficient. So we'd have a warband or potentially waggghhh or Orks allied with a Tyranid hive fleet, the Tyranids would use the Orks as front line infantry to minimise there losses and maximise biomass, the Orks would take out all planetary defences with some more specialised Tyranid units i.e Trygon, and afterwards the Tyranids would munch the whole world down. However the Orks would need an incentive to ally / work with anything thats not a healthy shade of green, so picture this ORKS WITH BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS ?!?!?! ... think wacky things like weapons that take Ork spores shoot them into enemies and then squigs burst out of there body aliens style , or even some kind of device which superspeeds the Ork spore maturation process allowing a spore to go to battleready Ork in minutes. The possibilities are endless and open the floor to some interesting mini conversions to anyone who felt so inclined I think a Warboss with an army replaced with a Tyranid hive tyrant bonesword wielding arm could look pretty cool, and would be totally explainable if you accept the above, not to mention a bonesword would be so much more dakka then a choppa.

Hmmm, it actually seems probable. I can see a mek accidentally making some device that overrides synapse and all the sudden the tyranids are fighting alongside the orks. If it would happen everything in the galaxy would either be looted or nom'd.

Wouldnt the ork horde immediately turn on the Tyranids then ? I mean the orks are incredibly xenophobic and dont really need a reason to pick a fight but especially on something thats stolen a good fight from them ?.

When it comes to actually playing the game, anyone can be on anyones side, that part doesnt matter in the least as your just playing a game.

FLuff wise, the way they wrote the Orks and the way the wrote the Nids, it just would not happen. The Nids are just TOO animalistic and are only concerned with eating biomass to reproduce. Orks are too concered with being the biggest and the badest and proving they can out head punch anyone else, hell they wont even band together for that very same reason. And its been mentioned for many additions that if they did join up, everyone in this galaxy is beyond screwed. But all us Orkses know that if that did happen and only Orks were left, guess what? They would kick the gak out of one another again.

I think The Ghoma nails it there with the Mek 'stumbling' across a device which tunes into the hive mind sub conciscous. I could have even been a fluke in the heat of battle when the boyz were just about to be over run, and this device got booted up and all of a sudden thousands of waves of tyranids come to an immediate stop and are at his (or tha boss' once he realises) control.

There could even be a theme to it, as there would be a massive possiblitytiy that at any time the device malfuntions and the turn on em again! ha. Could even make a little scenario out of that, on a roll of a 1 all hell breaks loose!


Did any one see the looted carnifex at games day just gone with a dude on top trying to steer it with rains? It looked cool.

In the 3rd Ed. Tyranid Codex, it is speculated that Biovores are the result of assimilated Ork genes by the Tyranids.

Also +1 on Squigs being failed Tyranid/Ork hybrids, a bunch of Orks boarded a hive ship and found the Squiog automatically seeing it as Orky, and taking it as a pet.

Played a campaign with some friends a while back that revolved around an Ork weirdboy manifest synapse powers. Kinda ridiculous, I know, but personally I loved the idea of the Tyranids thinking that he was a little green hive tyrant, and the weirdboy thinking so too.

All well and good until the bike-nid stops in mid-charge to eat some small, fuzzy thing and the Ork, now angry, hops off and gives it a kick... then, hilarity ensues. You could probably stage the resulting carnage to Yakkity Sax.

Genestealer cults exist in ork society so theres a reason or ork mek device those are the only two probable ones I can think of.

I am soo making looted nids now. terms as regular bikers, with some cybnid dakkaguns instead of the bio guns...

I just worry about the whole: getting my nervous system eaten out thing... Or the getting chopped up into pieces, or the melted by acid... Aside from that GO NID SACRIFICE!

A lot of people seem to miss the point of the OP methinks... it's not a question of "could the Nids and Orks ally", it's more like "what would happen if the 2 most numerous forces allied?" Obviously, it would be a complete massacre and really doesn't need asking, especially since it wouldn't happen anyway (due to neither army caring about the other).

Basically, the OP's question is a moot point. It's borderline rhetorical. The only two answers that you can get from "Ork/Tyranid Alliance?" are "Everyone else is utterly destroyed, whoop-dee-do," or "Impossible."

Ironically, the only thing that could unite every Ork in the galaxy, would be a big enough Nid invasion.

And honestly? Nobody but the Orks would want a Nid invasion big enough to unite all the Orks.

Honestly, I'm betting Warhammer 60K'll just be Nids, Orks, and Necrons. The 'nids eat the Orks, the Orks fight the Nids, and the 'Crons just keep dissolving their fleshy bits off planets, and dissolving, and dissolving...

There was a pretty awesome model of a 'looted' carnifex around some time ago though, if anyone remembers it, was a damned fine conversion.

The chainsword would render limb from thorax, and the powerfist, throat from useless greenskin body. The mighty heel of Moriar would squash your Carnifex and Mephiston would melt the weak brains of the Ork.
