That Slaanesh box saving amount HAS to be someone in admin having fun at some stage when setting the prices in advance on all that stuff

I'm calling it now that the Soulblight is the fastest to sell out - honestly I'm sorely tempted but I don't technically "need" more blood nights and I'm moving house so I should be saving not spending

I do wonder if third parties are actually going to discount them. Or if it's going to be like that space marine box that just went.

Historically they always have but its hard to tell and some of those might shift REALLY fast whcih can tend to make stores not even apply much discount.


Eg I'd expect the soulblight to shift really fast and have the least; meanwhile the Sylvaneth might shift really slow as it has less appeal to established fans of the army since its mostly older models and the leader is a named leader with no alt-build. So if you've already got her you'd only need another for fun/conversions.

Meanwhile something like the Imperial Guard one is just solid builder content that you can use to start/expand an army with. It just slots in neatly.

Element in the UK didn't apply discount to the Battleforces the last couple of years (I bought boxes on both occasions), although they did run a promotion offering loyalty points at a higher rate than normal (5 per pound rather than 1 per pound, I think).

I wouldn't worry about a discount as it appears that just like Crux Terminatus and Kill Team: Dead Silence, GW only made enough for scalpers and not the rest of us genuine customers. One of the FLGS's i order from is only getting 25 out of the 500 battleboxes they ordered

500? Unless their store is huge, that's absurd.

Once you're selling 500 of a bundle like this, you've long since ceased being an LGS.

Even if theres no discounts at independents you are still having a good and relevant saving with these sets. Unlike the terminators box that you would only be saving 1 mini or so, if you would get all split from an independent with discount.

None of those boxes are spot on of what I want and I doubt there will be much of them to begin with.

Maybe they're ordering that many knowing they'd only get a small fraction of it. If you want 25, don't ask for 25, but way more to ensure you get that 25.

Well the christmas box pre-orders went up today. The Crimson Keep box sold out within a minute or two on all 7 of the Australian online retailers I know of and use. There goes my chances of getting a cheapish Prince Vhordrai.

Going to have to do some hardcore lurking on the retailer sites in the hopes someone cancels their order and I can swoop in on it.

UK still appears to have stocks even now though I'm being very very good and not buying cause gotta save to move house. Even though its a saving in the long run on the Soulblight one

Though a few of the bigger stores are now running these boxes on "one per customer" to spread out the stock

Managed to get a soulblight one (for 4p) no less. But yeah, it's in single figures at all the third parties. It'll be gone in the hour.

My store of choice has 0 Soulblight and 100 Sylvaneth left, just as a curiosity.

That's hardly surprising as it's mainly made up of old dryads and a character nigh on every Sylvaneth player already has. And it's an inferior repeat of another box that had an extra tree lord in it.

Yeah Sylvaneth is running on new people only whilst Soulblight that dragon is very new and expensive and so the set is well worth grabbing for a lot of existing fans. Plus the dragons are under 300points to field so taking multiple is very doable so even if you bought one or two dragon kits, having another works.

So not only have you got new and existing fans wanting it; if the store lets you buy more than one there's even reason to get more than one (though 2 would be the limit and that's assuming that you didn't own any blood knights before)


Honestly the only surprise for me is that the Tyranid one has sold out in a few places; but then again anyone that missed Leviathan will likely want more screamers/neurothropes and I guess there has been enough time that the cheap leviathan stocks have run out in most places.

With the Nid one, 3/5th of the box is duel kits you can build multiple ways. And the mono-build stuff is new to this edition, so doesn’t have years of backstock on people’s shelves.


It’s not hard to get handfuls of little gribbles in assorted places, but harder to find good deals on the big monsters. Which is what this box is.

Yeah, Tyranids makes sense to me. Plus they are the opposing force in this edition. What surprised me is that Death Korps took way longer to sell out on GW's online store than the Chaos boyos that went almost instantly. People must really love that old Rhino.

I'm not game for anything right now, but if the troll box stuck around until closer to Christmas, I might buy one.

I think its more that the DKoK box has the lowest points, the lowest savings and has overlap with the army army set (3 Artillery teams)

I still bought one but it was harder to justify

It's low points but its all pretty new models and lets face it its artillery and troops - things that IG are famous for and are popular. Being low points actually makes it more attractive as a multi-buy. Esp as there weren't really any unique leader models in there; its all your standard core infantry, artillery and leaders

Nice. It's been interesting seeing the sort of flip flopping about which stores have sold out of which boxes first. Apart from the Soulblight, it varies very much between stores for some reason.

Even on the internet people have favoured stores they shop at and don't shop around and that's before you hit the smaller stores that don't land on the front page that are more serving a local community.

Plus the discounts vary too - I've noticed some stores will steep discount the slower sellers but not the high sellers; eg pretty sure Firestorm split the discounts and was offering zero discount on some of the fast selling boxed sets

Oh yeah the leaders and warriors don't match up but darn it its chaos - plus you can bet there will be some kind of marauder leader and mounted leader in the future for Chaos in oldworld

The old marauders clashed with chaos warriors for 30 years. I think if you're building a chaos army to look as cohesive as possible you're not really embracing the spirit of chaos... :p not that different types of fantasy leather BDSM and armour are that divergent From one another really.

I'm finding the overly reductive nurgle et al designs to be bad at chaos for this reason. It's literally in the name.

I think though the cost will be the thing - marauders will be cheaper for more so the average person without much cash might find that more attractive than the imo obscenely overpriced AOS units (across all factions).

Being "chaos" doesn't give leeway as to why you'd have guys dressed in heavy furs and leathers mixing with more conan-esque bare chested, arms and legs etc. Looks weird.

And the new marauders are still extremely expensive for only ten unique bodies.

Chaos has guys wearing almost no armour next to guys in full plate mail that's double thickness next to guys with mouths where their guts should be and another with a bird beak standing on a spinning disk of fire whilst another is holding on for dear life to a metal chain connected to a living metal machine bull that's probably breathing out smoke and fire.*


I think you can get away mixing Conan and Vikings in the same army





*and don't get me started on things like the Unmade who were the best Chaos Marauders for ages - they are basically Pinhead on stilts!
