What media enfluences have had an effect on your army such as something that inspired you to start an army, something that inspired the look or theme of your army etc.

For instance making a Ork Speed Freak army inspired by the Mad Max movies.

Personally I've had a few differant sources of inspiration, here are a few as examples.

1. The Stargate movie has been very inspiring in making my Necrons.

2. My Orks where inspired from the junk world in Star Wars The Force Unleashed (I forget the name, I think it's Raxus Prime?)

3. My Ordos Xenos Inquisitor is based off of Edmond Dantes from the Count of Monte Cristo (book not movie).

My Wolf Lord may or may not be re-enacting the "Alas poor yorick" scene from Hamlet... though that may or may not constitute media.

All my armies are influenced by various media,
my gaurdsmen are stationed at Hive Noveria,
my Command valkrie is being constucted with speakers,
my BFG fleet is going to follow Mass effect stucturing (1 battleship, some crusers and loads of escorts),
my gaurdsmen have small orange powerpacks on the small of their back that keep them warm (cookies for where thats from),
I'm doing a Grindlift Converion as a scenery piece for my Gaurd.
and i'm thinking of having my company commander standing drinking coffee.

However media only influences my models so much, however the background is seeded with references to various popular and not-so-popular media, once i'm finished it I might put up a little no winnings competition to see who can find it all

It seems like every time I watch a war movie, I think to myself than I need more guardsmen...

... just got done watching both Gettysburg and G&G. I totally need more infantry.

Your one-stop website for batreps, articles, and assorted goodies about the men of Folera: Foleran First Imperial Archives. Read Dakka's favorite narrative battle report series The Hand of the King. Also, check out my commission work, and my terrain.

Off the top of my head for the models themselves:

* Enemy at the Gates (Battle of Stalingrad). My whole army and its backstory (...I write too much) is partly based off of this conflict, though I ended up chosing the Germans inadvertenly.

* Jin-Roh: The Wold Brigade. After watching that film I knew I finally had the exscuse to get my carapace vets done. Now I'm sitting here with 20 odd grey armoured troopers which are about 40% greenstuff.=P

* The German army during WWII, for colour scheme, bit of background, uniform styling and a bit for the vehicles. No Nazi isignia or anything like that, I'm not an idiot. ¬¬

Course there's more to the army than that. Its a lot more backwards sci-fi than a WWII esque army. ^^

I play a lot of company of heroes, no surprise my guard look a lot like storm troopers from CoH. They're painted in a cinematic German style, black uniforms and grey tanks, except the armour is SS fall camo.

Painted up some storm troopers Grey and black in homage to Rainbow 6.

Watched Kingdom of Heaven, I now have some black templars sitting around, and bretonnians for WHFB.

We're watching you... scum.

Well, I tend to think of my Orks best when I think of Mad Max, since they are Speed Freaks. To me that movie is very Orkish with the vehicles.

I've named my Warboss Mag Maxx to that extent.

Don't have any pics up yet, and things like the Avatar are just started: I only currently have 1 Quinjet made up too: it's a long process. The Iron Spiders and Hulkbusters are my favorites. All the unit champions have non-helmeted heads too, painted with a Tony Stark mustache.
