so i was on forge world and one of the categories they have is games workshop kits i decided i might as well look at what they have and i noticed that some kits like the sm land raider for example are cheaper than at gw . they are 35 gpb = 54 dollars but that is like 10 bucks cheaper than at gw where they are $62.50 and i am sure that shipping is not 10$ so by buying from forge world you are actually saving. Anyone know why? just thought put this out there for dicussion goldlink http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Games_Workshop_Kits/SPACE-MARINE-LAND-RAIDER.html link to page

You might be looking at the conversion kit, rather than the conversion kit + model. Also, the prices will be in GBP (£), not Euro. Edit: Though a link to the item in question would help... Edit 2: If you mean this land raider, then yes, it is about £2.50 cheaper (without postage) than buying direct from GW. However, you then have to add postage, and then consider other suppliers which will sell the kit at a standard 10-20% off retail

I think you're probably looking at the after-market accessory or conversion kits. You still need to buy the Land Raider model, generally.
So add the FW price to the GW retail price and that's what your actual cost is. They're not substitutes.

Everything seems to be the same price as GW. Everything on FW is in pounds so it is actually $54.30 in dollars.
Even so, it seems like us brits get things cheaper than you!

It's cheaper to buy much of their stuff than the original GW stuff here.
A resin SM dread with arms (venerable) is cheaper from FW than GW and is a better looking model to boot. GWs own subsidiary is more attractive to buy stuff from (especially the vehicle kits) even WITH their history of mismouldings.
That's just down to the vagaries of international currency atm though.

Wha? How does that math make sense? 62.50 - 54.00 = 8.50. Hardly "like 20 bucks cheaper."
Also, per the FW FAQ page, they charge 15% of the total order for worldwide shipping. 15% of $54 is...$8.10.
If you order it from GW you will save (by your price figures) $8.50, have to actually pay shipping (since ordering it from the GW website will have free shipping.)
Finally, it has to get here from ENGLAND, meaning you are waiting 7-28 days to get the product.
So, if you are so strapped for cash that you're willing to wait up to a month to get something all to save FORTY CENTS, go for it.

No you won't because most banks will charge you an extra fee for the currency exchange. Usually either a percentage or if your really unlucky, a percentage plus a set amount around 3-5 bucks. And if you are using an actual credit card that's not a business account, it will likly be worse.

Might not make sense for the land raider, but a FW dread for less instead of a standard one sounds quite appealing!

With current exchange rates, that Landraider from Forgeworld is $55.31 CAD, while if I were to go out to my local GW, or FLGS, it would be $74.50 CAD. Even with 15% shipping and applicable taxes, it's still cheaper for us Canadians(Don't know about anyone else though.)

Umm if you buy 3 of them, then yes you are saving like 24 dollars. Then you've got tariffs, etc.
