Was at the FLGS today and looking at the Advance Orders sheet with all of the upcoming Skaven stuff. There seemed to be some stuff in the 40k section regarding a blister with Calgar, an Ultramarines Honor Guard boxed set, one other Ultramarines thing, and Bjorn the Fellhanded. Any ideas why they would be there? I haven't seen any news or rumors about them getting re-released. I can't seem to find Bjorn on GW's webpage either, so I am not sure what's going on here.

Dunno, but I hope honur guard will be available without calgar (and a £12 price increase!)
but the only way I see GW selling some honour guard kits is if they make it in plastic with options, like the command squad.

Doubt they'll make plastic HG, barely does anyone use them

But this doesnt seem too productive to separate them seeing the current HG have Ultramarine symbols everywhere and thus little use for most marine players

Well, if they made a cheaper way to get those eagle faced helmet Honor Guards, I'd be all for it. Mostly just for the heads, though.

Yeah, I'd personally buy a set of ten honor guard if they were plastic and they gave you a bunch of weapon options for them-and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would buy more if they were plastic and sold on their own. I might even pick Calgar up on his own at some point. But the way the box is set up now, it's practically worthless.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

My friend who collects Crimson Fists was saying this the other day, the only thing he has as an alternative is legion of damned model conversions or using one of the conversion kits. I think it would be a good idea if they released a multi part plastic sprue for HG/Veterans

I think the ultramarines honour guard are pretty good for anything, really. I've painted mine up imperial fists, and the 'U's are kind of nice. They signify "Prestige" and "Glory" rather than ugly ultrasmurfs to me

Bjorn? Was he ever a model? Why the gak do they even have rules for him? He's fought ONCE in the last 3 millenniums or so. Why the heck would he in some random space wolf army? He should be Apoc only, IMO. Same with the swarm lord. And like every other special character in the game

If you only want the eagle helmets you may as well just buy them from the warstore IF these even get released in Plastic, and yes the Omega does not have to represent your friendly local spess smurfs.

There is a new release of several models. We've known about it for a couple days. Here is a link.

Ah, I see. The power armoured version then. That's pretty cool. Those have been floating around ebay in various materials for a while now. Recasters really take advantage of ultrasmurf players

Yes, Bjorn was a model. I should still have him somewhere, he had an assault cannon and lightning claw and he was the first "venerable" dread. He had the option if I remember correctly to make opponents re-roll their penetration results and may have ignored shaken/stunned. EVERY 2nd ed space wolf player owned him.
On the honor guard, I seem to remember a couple of years ago there was a Blood Angel honor guard released which was basically the five-man assault squad with another sprue of goodies (maybe the command squad sprue?)

All the "U" (Ultramarine Symbols) that are all over these models really killed any desire I've ever had to get them.

They're a bit too ornate, but even that would be OK... except for the excessive Ultramarine Branding.

As it is, I can see these being big sellers.

Going a bit more generic would have been a smarter move here.

I have to admit I would feel the sam if I was a SM player, They could have still put these sprues in the calgar set and maybe even included the extra bits to make them look like ultramarines instead.

We all know why they have done this way...the ultramarines are GW love child it's why they are one of my most hated chapters

We have to wait and see, maybe they will be generics. I might buy some when I get the money. They are cool models.

No explanations, Morathi. PA Njal is interesting, though.

Yeah, seeing Bjorn coming back out again is pretty cool, though the only bit you really need from him is the Lightning Claw, otherwise you can make him from the various plastic kit.

I have seen the new WD and I have a pic of the new releases.

I don't know if I'm allowed to post it on here so I'll just write it out.

Jan 22. Direct order only.

Marneus Calgar, Lord Macragge - £10.75? (blurry) - Classic Calgar in power armour
Ultramarines Chapter Champion - £? (can't read, sorry) - Same as from the Marneus Calgar boxed set
Ultramarines Honour Guard - £12.?? - 2 models pictured. Same as from the Marneus Calgar boxed set
Bjorn the Fell-Handed - £36 - The old model
Njal Stormcaller - £10.75 - I think this is the old model, runic armour

Sorry if you already know this information.

Nice to see Njal coming back. The new model for him is ace, but it's nice to have the Power Armour option available.

Well it will make it easier to field some honour guard without having to by the Marneus Calgar boxed set every time you want some.

That's true. I got my Honour Guard when you could still bitz order them. With GW's bitz service as dead as it is, the only way was via boxes (which is silly). However overpriced the Honour Guard models end up being, it's good to be able to get them.

Plus that Chapter Champion model is ace. I'm sure a lot of conversion potential exists with that model now that he can be bought separately.

Samus_aran115 wrote:Bjorn? Was he ever a model?

The Bjorn model was originally released for 2nd edition, and had been available for pretty much every edition since, although for 3rd (and possibly 4th) edition he was sold simply as a 'Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought'

Why the gak do they even have rules for him? He's fought ONCE in the last 3 millenniums or so.

No idea where that comes from, but even if true, given that he was supposedly interred in M31, that leaves around 7000 years worth of battles for him to have participated in as a Dreadnought.

40K games don't just take place in the 'current' time. As evidenced by the number of special characters who are 'currently' dead.

Yup, good to see the power-armoured Njal back, and the Honour Guard available separately.

I'm a little surprised that they still haven't updated the power-armoured Calgar, though. Flagship Chapter and all that.

Given the current price of the Furioso, Bjorn might be the most expensive of any single collectors model to date (by single I mean discounting anything that comes in squads).

He was one of the very first 2nd edition models, IIRC he was the first of the Angry Washing Machine pattern dreads. Even the 2nd edition rules only had 1st edition dreads.

Ive go 3 of the old Bjorns/SW ven dreads, all done up diffrently, and honestly i think hes still one of the best dreads out there, he's deffinitly stood the test of time...only real complaint from me would be hes a little short in the legs compared to the newer ones..and he came with the old flat base...one of the last models i can still hold in my hands and feel like i got my moneys worth of material tho a (hopefully) plastic dread for us wolves would be nice
