Check out what's in the Warhammer 40,000 Advance Order page NOW:

- Bjorn the Fellhanded $57.75 US
- Ultramarines Honour Guard $19.75 for two
- Ultramarines Chapter Champion $14.00
- Marneus Calgar (in power armour) $16.50
- Njal Stormcaller (classic) $16.50

Release date: January 22

Years ago I got a Njal model in a bargain bin at GW for $4 back when they regularly had such things. He's $16.50 now!

And Bjorn now comes with a 60mm base. I got mine so long ago Space Marine Dreadnoughts didn't come with a base of any kind and 60mm round bases from GW did not exist.

Always liked that Calgar model. Some of the 2nd Edition sculpts had character, even if they're significantly lesser quality than what we have now (I liked the old Ghazghkull & Makari, for instance)

Njal still looks decent. I even forgive the Disco Inferno pose, since he's supposed to be, well, calling a storm.

Dude! Finally! I seem to recall a few posters who would have loved to have the honour guard on their own!
And it's good to see the PA calgar again, it was a nice sculpt
Anyways even though it's mostly the boys in blue, i was happy to see that stuff posted today

It has ALWAYS been metal!

I remember running scared from that beast way back in 2nd edition.

Indeed it has always been metal. And when I bought my Bjorn when it was first released it cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $30-$32. Now it's $57.75, but at least now it comes with a base.

It is a shame the honour gaurd have so many omega signs on them, i'm sure GW dropped the ball when they did that one.

How?

The "Honour Guard" were an Ultramarine-only bodyguard unit made specifically for Calgar in the 4th Ed Codex that were expanded out into a general non-Ultramarine specific unit when the 5th Ed Codex came about. The models themselves were designed during 4th Ed, when they were an Ultramarine unit. There's no ball dropping there.

Pretty huge prices considering those models are probably older than some of the posters here. It costs them almost nothing to get the moulds off the shelf and whip up a few casts so um.... £10.25 for a single marine figure? Jog on.

It's likely based on the current pricing figure of models. Bjorn is the exact same price as the metal furioso and chaos dreads. Honor Guards are in line with the metal models as well.

And I'm personally irked that canadian prices are ridiculously high right now (mainly a combination of GW refusing to lower prices while the canadian dollar grows).

But there is a dropped ball. The fact that they were a ultramarine specific unit and are now not shows that GW had to have a change of heart on this unit. Going from ultramarine only to any chapter means GW assumed ultramarines to be more of a draw than they actually are.

I'm sure if they could go back they would have rather have made the models vanilla, ball dropped in my eyes.

I think the space marines have really had more codexes than GW would have probably liked due to errors like this.

Erm..... Isn't 'Omega' the other way round? The honour guard are lame models the eagle face plates have been translated awfully from the artwork.
If anyone wants that calgar i would swap him for 2 metal tau pathfinders... Haha plugged...

Or it simply means that the writer of the newer codex thought it would be cool to let anyone have them. Or that they sold well enough as an Ultramarines-only unit that they thought it was well worth opening them up to everybody, justifying a repackaged re-release.

Well of course it is not as if one could not simply apply some GS to the symbols on the mini itself, but to be completely honest I see nothing wrong with the ultramarine honor guard miniatures that would keep me from buying a couple just to have as a collecting thing.

Sternguard and Honor Guards were both originally Ultra-exclusive models (pardon the pun there). The reason they were made more "chapter ambiguous" is likely because people were already irked at how Ultramarine-Central the Space Marine Codex was. Chapter-specific units in a supposidly vanilla book isnt exactly the best way to go. However they only dropped the ball on making a chapter specific unit, the models themselves were never intended for other chapters.

Sterns as in the original Marine Vets or the Tyranid Vet Hunters? Sterns technically only existed since 5th edition

Tyranid Hunters. They were pretty much the same units. The original Marine vets evolved into the Vanguards.

I suppose, just does seem a shame to make a chapter specific model, does rather restrict the possible orders GW could get on a unit like this compared to if they had made it vanilla.

Still i'm sure that people could do some amazing non-Ultramarine honour gaurd kit bashes from the new forgeworld classic space marine armour pieces. Hmmmm....

Heck, wouldn't be hard to use some of the DC bits and the honor guard to make some co0l command squad units. The chapter champion is the hard one to convert, the normal honor guard would be easy.

And now that I think about it, I need a stern guard sergeant. This may work to my advantage...

See, the expense of it is the problem I have with it.
I have to admit that my eyes lit up when I saw they were re-releasing the Bjorn model, but 37 quid? Seriously??
For 5 or 6 quid more, I could get a Forgeworld Venerable dread which, in my eyes, is the bext looking dreadnought out there. And I get a choice of arms and it's not made of metal.

try it in canada. We pay 70 bucks for him, while the canadian dollar is prettymuch 1:1 with the US buck, while the US price is 57.

You could always buy some US dollars with your canadian buck and save yourself some dou.

Or alternatively I could buy it in the uk and for a nominal price send it out to you (inc P&P of course). What is the conversion rate from pounds to canadian buck?

£36 = 55.5906 CAD

Could probably get him to you for 65 CAD inc P&P

Customs is mostly what's breaking my balls here. They do random checks and randomly charge you for it, most of the time costing you the difference, and then some.
