well i never really thought about it but i realised the codex doesnt say anything about Space Marines ageing, the closest thing i could find being the organ that allows them to enter suspended animation. But it does semm they live for a long time, seeing as how it says Telion has lived for 3 centuries

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

They live for a long time.

I don't know if they die of old age or not, to be honest. I'm assuming they just fight until they are killed in battle. The more experienced you become the more dangerous your missions are!

Isn't commander Dante old as hell?

Most chaos space marines are at least ten thousand years old

They never have time to die if old age. They fight until they die, and that's it!

They're less "alive" and more "preserved by the dark powers".

IIRC, Dante is the oldest "living" space marine. (This excludes chaos marines and dreadnoughs of all variants)

No space marine has lived for that long. So we can't really say anything.

We can say that since Dante has lived for as long as he has, its unclear whether or not they die of old age but they can certainly live for an awful long time.

Time also flows differently (slowly?) in the warp. That is why the heresy is so fresh for the traitor legions.

As for death by old age, probably happens. Wouldn't be very interesting to hear about though would it...

Jeff the Space Marine had fought for countless centuries in the name of the Emperor. Waging war against horrors beyond all imagination. Then he passed away in his sleep. The end.

In the HH it states that Space Marines are immortal unless slain in battle.

But the BA codex Dante has lived for 1,100 years because of the Red Thirst which greatly extends the life spans of the Blood Angels.

So like everything in GW there is published canon evidence on both sides.

Or at the time of the HH, maybe marines were thought to be immortal, but the last 10,000 years has proven this to be untrue? Or the Emperor walking around kept the Marines ageless, or something?

I say geneseed corruption and that and the over usage of geneseed may have an affect on it.

All the HH books say is that as far as they know Marines are immortal. Meaning none have died of old age. Be advised that Marines were relatively new during the Horus Heresy, so they hadnt had enough time to age to their extent yet.

But it comes from word of the Emperor that his chosen warriors will share his immortality as humanities eternal guardians.

Where does it say that? I may be wrong, but I dont recall reading it. Marines Like Iacton Qruze and Ulvurul Heoroth (from Prospero Burns) certainly show some negative effects of aging, though the extent is not clear. SM certainly live for a damn long time, but I think immortality is pushing it.

On a boat, Trying not to die.

In Salamander by Nick Kyme, there is a Space Marine who once walked with Primarch Vul'kan, so yes, they are in fact, immortal. (This takes place in 40,000)

Yeah. Sucks how they killed him though. They could have their own Bjorn if they made him a dreadnought. Would be sick!

Most of the Chaos Primarchs are alive. Horus, Kurze and Alpharius are dead.

Loyalists are either dead or missing. Vulkan, Corax, Jaghati and Russ are all missing.
