Ok so about a month and half maybe two months ago I discovered a chap on youtube who puts out great looking minis. Through a series of PM's it turned out that due to this and that he had painted all his stuff and wasn't gonna be get much else new for a while. So rather than lose his awesome regular updates I fished out a bunch of old miniatures I had lying around doing nothing and sent them to him.

As a result this is what he did for me

Now my photos aren't that great so if you want a better look as well as a gander at his own awesome Ultramarine army then check him out at http://www.youtube.com/user/OrcPainterNerd

You'll find WiP's for this mini as well some great tips on painting in general.

Thanks for checking this out.

This is what I mean, the guy is insane. The numbers and writing is actually from the copyright info at the bottom of the decal sheets. The mini in fact has a total of 7 decals on it. See if anyone can spot em.

@Gits, Depraved and M'K Nemesis - thanks all I'll pass on the praise.

Nice!

It's nice to see people who can do such nice work with kitbashing alone. It's easy to get sucked into the idea that you need mad GS or plasticard skills to get something that looks nice.

Indeed, I absolutely love the kit bashing element of the SM range. The sheer number of possibilities makes for absolutely endless fun. I must however say a big thank you to Blackhand for the ammo clips that you see on any of my veterans, without his generosity they wouldn't look half as cool.

that's a great idea! i'll have to take a look at my decals and start putting some writing on my seals which so far have been left as white ribbons. every time i tried freehanding the script, it looked like crap.

Been Around the Block

Hi guys first post on DAKKA

That was a pure pleasure to paint. lennysmash sent me some really cool mini's, he said he wanted nothing in return. He explained there sitting around and i would like to see them go to good use. and they have indeed

so about a week after receiving them I really wanted to give something back for lenny but what to give? He said that he wanted no item in return so i thought to offer to paint one of my mini's.
That would have been cool, but lenny went one better and sent me a custom kit bash mini to paint. There is nothing more fun than painting a great mini.

Big thank you to lenny for making a guy happy. The War gaming community is truly awesome

You did a tremendous job on that figure orcpaintnerd... all-around through the build and the painting. Please don't make this the last of your minis we get to see.

Nah this guys setting a trend, lol

I was thinking fluff wise he may have been selected for a tour with DW but until he is actually a serving member he has to remain in his livery. Only once he has served can he don the colours of the DW on the pad. What do reckon?

Nice White. Very clean! Also, for folks looking for simple Purity Seal script - Micron 005 pens are a must.

I get mine from Michael's, which is a US arts & crafts store.

Here:
http://www.shopatron.com/products/category/Micron+005+size+/+.20+mm+nib/294.0.1.1.8816.9956.8787.0.0

Pick up that 6-color set and you should be set for any and all purity seal / parchment needs. I use the red / green for various additions to scrollwork, such as a Dark Angel logo in green or an Aquila in red, etc. These enable ultrafine details without the mess, you just need a steady hand.

Glad people are liking this chap, like I said earlier if you really want to get a feel for his stuff check out his youtube page. He's just uploaded a brilliant multi-part tutorial on how he gets his marines looking so good.
