Looks to me like:

- Paint Bleached Bone.
- Wash Gryphonne Sepia.
- Repaint raised areas Bleached Bone.

The exact colors, dunno... Might be Devlan Mud, might be Ogryn Flesh, might not even be GW paint. But I'm pretty sure it's color + wash + same color.

Note that he's not repainting the joints, he's only repainting the "raised" areas.

I do wonder how he did the red on the lith though?

Can you just paint it?

Someone at my store found somewhere to buy the red plastic rods for the Gauss guns. I don't remember where he got them from I'm afraid, but I do know he basically just cut his own.

For the crystal, it's probably flourecent plexiglass built in the shape of the crystal. The portal, however, is probably a recast with some resin dye to achieve that color (I know that the local art store sells translucent resin dyes).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Prime white, Devlan Mud wash, Bleached Bone on the armor plates with a white highlight. Gun is black with a grey highlight, tubes are red with a gloss coat. Easy, effective paintjob.

Actually it looks like he's talking about painting it with red paint and then glossing over it to make it look like that. I think he said he painted water effects over it.

The way that paintjob is set up, it would be an excellent candidate for the dip method.

Personally, I think there should be a little red on the guy somewhere, say the eyes and the egyptian plate thingie in the chest, and maybe even shoulder pads and greaves, but at least the eyes. I think I would put a little vertical stripe on his forehead.

Dipping may work buy this paint job is so aime and quick as it is dipping may slow you down. You know having to wait 24 hours ect. I'm going to try it out a little. Adding some red else where buy I don't know if I want to butcher a nice easy paint job. I know where I can get the tunes from already for the guns I'm just worried bout the crystal on top as well as the portal on the lith. I also plan on adding much more color to the lith and I think I'm going to light it up as well. Ill do the bases different I think either sandy to look like the desert or decorative bases. My guys should be coming in soon so ill start a blog on here about it

As SpacePanzee said, the crystal/portal aren't translucent plastic. It looks like a high gloss red paint. So either it's a nice flat red colour with a gloss varnish/clear coat or he used high gloss spray paint.

I also agree with putting some red on the Warrior himself, there's nothing really tying him visually to his weapon at the moment. Even just the eyes would look better IMO.

The original looks really smooth, so don't underestimate the difficulty of the paint job. Most whites and off-whites require lots of thin layers to really look good or they end up looking caked on, patchy, etc.

Agree with those suggesting more red on the model to link them with the crystals. The center plate on the chest would be a good candidate. If you have steady hands, maybe try patterns on certain parts (head, shoulders, etc) that are simple and clean (triangles, diamonds, etc) without taking up the whole plate that's getting color.

To think that if I had never got into Warhammer, I'd probably have enough money for a down payment on a house...

Current inventory includes Slaanesh, Generic clean marines, Orks, and IG.

Looks primed with bone, then just washed with unthinned sepia in the recesses and rehighlighted with bone.

Extremely quick to do and looks great.

For red rods. I think it's the 3/32" diameter ones, but I'm not positive.

http://www.cristalier.com/spear_crystal_prisms_p/g-g-red-44.htm - a nice crystal replacement for the monolith's top. If you want to light the monolith, you will need to obtain transparent materials for your replacements, or it won't look as impressive.

http://www.cristalier.com/Red_rocks_p/red%20rock.htm - Possible rocks for the basing, if you want.

There used to be Red Monolith conversion kits on ebay, but they seem to have stopped now. :(

Biteme556 did a good job of one too .

For the door, you will need to either recast as red transparent acrylic (probably transparent with some red dye) or maybe use a flat door?

Good luck with your project .

You know, looking at that photo really makes me want to do one with all of those joints dremeled out and then refilled with colored resin so everything that's red on this model would glow from the internal light. Hook that up with a flicker circuit and it would be smothered in awesome sauce.
