Back from awesome tapas, beer and sacrifices to a dark god. Now too warm and drinking tea, because we're British happy that folk are looking kindly on the grimdark flagellants, I know what you mean about the red leather/shotgun combo she is now finished (boss was watching some other woman's baby) but I'm too far from the mini and value my life too much.

You are a bad man. Yeah, I understand the cheesecake argument. Just rambling. Any-hoo, Jacoba, as promised, although strangely dark pic. Hmm. I've got a couple of other hangers-on I might get done today, but I suspect this is me for the next week of so (week-off/wee-cough - yay terrible puns ), and will largely be reduced to lurking through limited wifi availability. Also, entirely unrelated, great article in today's Daily Telegraph (of all places) demanding that David Cameron ban WHFB rather than porn. Adios, amigos, graven Edit - aforementioned hanger-on, Ordo Xenos servitor. Also, I have an idea for a contest when I come back. I'll float some ideas on here over the next week or so, hopefully.

Yeah, it's from the Dkok quartermaster. It actually has a cherub atop the back piece, but I've left that separate to have as another servitor, cos let's face it you can never have enough fat, grimdark babies, eh? Man, I'm going to be burnt out by the end of this year. P.S. I'll get down to the Post Office tomorrow. Thanks man, and don't sweat running down to the old PO And, yeah, the contest. My vague idea is a Great Repurposing: using minis for systems other than they are originally intended, such as (say) Dark Age for Death Cult or Urban War for Infinity. Basically, you have to take a model and make it recognisably part of an army for a different game system. I'm sure that most folk will go for making stuff for 40k, but I'm trying to be open minded. Also, I wonder whether to allow WFB>40k (or vice-versa)? Your thoughts, mes amis?

Sounds like great fun, I have a tonne of ideas already. Scale is quite constraining and makes it a lot easier to convert Infinity into 40k, for example, than the other way around. The other challenge will be designing the rules. Should most of the original miniature still be visible? Otherwise you could just cover it up. Should the miniature be playable/fit the scale of it's intended game or just match the aesthetic?

I think you can be more than quietly pleased with them.
Anyway don't want people to think I'm trying to butter up the judges...
Sounds like an interesting and amusing idea for a competition. Would definitely want to watch that even if I didn't compete.
As Casey says, the rules will have to be water-tight.

Good points chaps. I'm going to work out the rules thoroughly I hope! The idea is that you take a mini from one system and it be playable in another, and at the end of the day anyone trying to be awkward just won't win recognisable is another matter, however, the aim is to encourage creativity in modelling, painting and recycling! Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and glad the Servitor is getting much love. it is a fab little model.

That's the spirit!
Speaking of repurposing:
The middle one is clearly a "real" model, albeit with a plasma. The other two are kitbashes where the base model is an Empire Battle Wizard. This would be one type of Repurposing.
On the other hand (still very WIP):
A WM Cephalyx, Dark Age Saint and Confrontation Griffon thingy, all repurposed for the Ordo.
The idea then is that they're more than just stuck on a new base and called counts-as - they need at least minor changes and recognisable paintjobs.
How does that sound?
BTW I have, I think, some cracking prizes lined up for this; all stuff to be, yeah you guessed it - repurposed

Really nice examples! I think almost everyone will convert something to fit 40k but that's not something you can get around. Will there be an upper limit on the alterations you can make? I'm trying to figure out at what point you start getting marked down for changing the original miniature too much.

A tough job though, wouldn't you say? Heroic scale, by design, makes GW products hard tobreuse elsewhere. As an Infinity player I could only really imagine making a TAG or Vehicle from GW stuff to fit truescale.

That's the theory! And no, no upper limit- I once used an ambull as the skeleton for a confrontation abomination, gs'd over the whole thing - as long as there's component WIPs, who am I to suppress creativity?!

Yeah definitely going to include that rule. It's just about getting folk to rework something they have and don't use into something they can.
