Any users here around the Fort Bragg area? Raleigh, Greensboro, Duram, Wilmington, etc? I play at the Hobbit here in Fayetteville. I think it'd be better to know someone and contact them to set up a game before hand. There aren't too many tables at the Hobbit and I usually have to wait a while to get a table.

Maybe you hang out with immature women. Maybe you're attracted to immature women because you think they'll let you shpadoink them. |

DB,
There are pletny of players at the hobbit that are more than willing to get a game going with new players in both Fantasy, 40k and FoW. As you have noticed you need to get there relatively early (between 10-1030) to get a table and a game or you will be waiting for a while.
What do you play? WHFB or 40k?

Do I look like a guy with a plan? |

Hey all! I'm from Wilmington, NC. I just bought a ton of terrain to be used at the store and we have 2 Citadel Realms of Battle boards hitting the tables soon!
Come check us out! Our store is called Cape Fear Games and we are located on Oleander in front of the mall. It has been a long time since Warhammer/War Gaming has been played and played well in Wilmington! Trying to get a core group together!

Check out Hit Point Hobbies in Southern Pines. It has four tables (4x8 and loads of terrain) and is open on days other than Saturday, unlike the Hobbit. Good place with a lot of 40K players, Fantasy too, as well as a ton of other games.
Of course, it might be a bit far for you.

Alternatively, consider any of the following:
Gamer's Armory in Cary
All Fun & Games in Cary
Sci Fi Genre in Durham
Game Theory in Raleigh
All have decent amounts of tables for gaming that are oftentimes not full. If you're within range of any place in Cary, I'd be up for a game sometime.

Been looking for a small group or club to join up with when I get back from deployment. I am currently living in Cameron, NC and have visited the Hobbit an several occassions. I was unwilling to field an unpainted army before I left and sadly haven't played since 3rd edition. Is there anyone out there going to be available for small time gaming or home games?
|
I couldn't have rolled more ones if we were playing in binary. |

I like that there are so many hidden War Gamers in the NC area. I smell a massive, calling-all-Carolinians- tournament event!
Maybe this summer we can plan a big weekend long mini-con or something. We just opened a brand new Convention center here in Wilmington and they are practically giving space away as they are trying to build up business!

Please, head over to Hit Point Hobbies. We are practically right down the road from you. Just take US-1 to the exit for Morganton Rd. Just go left from that exit and we are on the right - the same shopping center / strip as Flowland and ADI Tattoo. Can't miss us. We have a good gaming group that is open to anyone and willing to help people learn the new edition, etc.

No, seriously. We have a massive NC crowd, from what I can tell. We should to an NC Con for sure.

Hello all my NC gamers.... I will be coming home for R&R and was looking to get a game in one day. I am down to check out the Hit Point Hobbies, I google mapped it and it is only 35 mins from my house. Is there anything going on the next couple of weekends? I should be home Feb 23-11 March anyone interested in teaching a player 5th edition, I haven't played since 3rd edition. Hit me up with a P.M. or on here.

I'm in the same position except I'm in Jacksonville. Recently got stationed there so I havent really been able to find anything. Currently deployed but would love to know of any good spots to play some games when i get back. Used to play nids but havent played in a couple years thanks to my hobbyshop back home closing down.

Give the shop a ring or drop by. The weekend is a good time to catch the 40k crowd, but I am available a lot during the week too. Also, check out the Facebook page - you can post if you will be there or request games, etc.

I'm currently at ECU so there are a few hobby outlets around Greenville. During breaks and summer I mainly go to the Hobby Chest in Jacksonville since I live really close by. But a Wilmington mini-con thing would be REALLY awesome.
As far as hidden NC gamers, from personal experience a lot of it is from military members. I know that the Hobby Chest crowd is almost entirely that, though it may just be because its Jacksonville.

The biggest challenge in some areas is the military crowd. Been stationed at Fort Bragg since 03 and there have been times most of us were deployed at the same time. Deployments are slowing down, but training is picking back up which throws a lot of our schedules off. Specifically, I'm out in Arizona for training.
Locally, Hit Point Hobbies has a good gaming crowd and I had no issues getting in a game out there. They also ran a fun tourney.
For the Hobbit, there's a large 40k crowd, but it can be hit or miss getting the same folks together as the only time to really game over there is on Saturdays and most of us are in the military.
I mapquested Wilimington from where I live in Raeford, and it's about a 2 hour drive. That would most likely indicate I'd travel out there only for tourneys.
Definitely advertise upcoming tourneys on sites like this or various podcasts. That will get a lot of folks' attention as there are a lot of various small 40K groups, but very few large gatherings in NC that I'm aware of.
|
No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

I know this isnt the place for this, but with so many people in NC looking for games this might be a good tourney to go to. This was originally posted in the tourney section by Guardsmen 101.
"The 3rd Meatgrinder tournament in Raleigh is coming up, February 26th at Game Theory. The tournament has enough room fr 22 players and this quarter we are giving away a professionally painted Chaos Demon army as the 1st place prize. That's right guys and gals, we are giving away a painted Chaos Demon army to the winner. So here is the information as follows.
-Entry Fee: $10
-Location: Game Theory, Raleigh, North Carolina
When: Feb. 26th
-Start Time: 10:30am
-Contact information: you can contact me at supply.run@gmail.com or call Game Theory (919)787-4449 (ask for Rob, store owner, or Abe, manager).
-RSVP only, First come, First serve.
-1850pts of Standard Force Org.
-Scenarios are released 3 weeks prior to the tournament.
-There are no soft scores only Battle points (similar to 'Ard Boyz)
-First place prize is a painted professionally painted Chaos Demon Army with second and third prizes to be announced later.
-Models do not have to be painted but must be modeled appropriately (wyswyg). However, not alll models have been released in some armies (such as Griffons, Wracks, etc ...). In this case proxies are allowed as long as they are equipped correctly, are the appropriate size and on the right bases .
-Bring 5 copies of your list (1 for yourself, 1 for me, and 1 for each opponent).
Pictures of some of the painted models will be added to this thread in the upcoming week or so but I do have a con I have to attend in a week and a half so maybe 2 weeks roughly. Happy hunting and we hope that you can join us there
"
This seemed like an excellant tourney that could get a lot of players together. Good Luck
