Whats the fluf of the Death Korp of Kreig, if they have any. Ive seen more and more of this Forge World creation at tournaments and collectors showcases but know very little other then they are a big visual play on WWI Imperial Prussia/Germany.

Blood calls out to blood, so they say. Let us spill that of our enemies with all due haste, that we may hear its cry all the clearer!

Lexicanum is good.

If you want the published fluff, then it's in the Siege of Vraks books from Forge World.

I while back the planet Krieg had a rebellion against the emperor, which broke out into a giant civil war between the loyalists and the traitors. Eventually, as a symbol of cleansing the loyalists nuked everything on the planet to destroy the traitors. Also, as a form of penance, Krieg has a given much larger numbers of civilians over to join the imperial guard; these large numbers and need for absolution leads to their attrition warfare tactics where men will throw themselves at the enemy with no thought for themselves. Because they live on a dead world, they have been allowed to use cloning processes to supliment their ranks. Their gasmasks almost never come off, seen as a second skin to Kriegsman who have grown up needing to where them on their planet.

Not a political refernece. In the sence that they swear allegience to one they once rebeled against and a forced enlistment/conscription to said persons militry force, entering themselfs into a self perpetuating downfall cased by the one they are supporting. In a abstract sence in suppose.

By that definition nearly every country that fought in the world wars was Nazi.

The Death Korp of Krieg do not fight like WWII german armies (fast Blitz assault is the main difference between them and other forces), they fight like forces from multiple countries during WWI (trench and siege, wars of attrition).

DKoK are generally inspired by trench warfare as a whole, with their equipment, uniforms, and demeanor being mostly taken from the French and Germans

People have already pointed out lexicanum. If you have the $$$ you could go and buy the Imperial armor books.

But the gist of it is. They are WW1 Wannabes in space...The gas masks are lovely though.

I think what Xorus is saying is he is commenting on the inter-war periods during the rise of fascism. Though I don't think Germany had an army like that of WW1, most people went for the mechanized style people had been preparing for before WW1.

Even if I'm wrong I think that the SS and the German armed forces once Hitler came to power wouldn't have had any link to WW1 armies.

Having read Vraks 1, I think that it is a rumour that the DKoK use a type of cloning, not actually confirmed. Unless vraks 2 or 3 confirms this then I still think it is a rumour they're cloned.

In post WWI the standard military uniform was the same as during the war,(The DKoK uniform) and stayed that way into the introduction of the nazi regeime. Which at first Germany rebeled against (The DKoK's rebelion against the Empire). Then once The Nazi regeime (The Empire) took power they payed "Pennance" to the Regeime, and most men were forced into some form of military or civil service. Like the DKoK is now. That is all i meant, not a literal translation of post great depression Germanys rise to power of the system of fascism. Most "not all" took that statement to literaly and didnt count for the abstract views of the Imperial Guard on many war's.

The problem with this is that you are actually looking at the history of Krieg incorrectly.

Modern Krieg is based on the one hive that remained loyal to the Emperor. It is those that were always loyal that bear the burden of the actions of the rest of Kriegs population, they believe they need to seek redemption in the eyes of the Emperor so fight in his name.

Krieg = World War One forces (pro- and anti-Germany) that fought in the Europe Fronts, their uniform design and fighting style all point to this.

Death Korps of Krieg take GrimDark to a whole new level.

Minor Dead Men Walking (DKOK BOOK) Spoilers Below!!!

If you read dead men walking.. it mentions that on krieg young lads will literally kill each other in units for the position of guardsmen.

In the book. The Krieg guys train militia in their harsh fashion. Everyone gets a number. They pit units against each other to beat each other to a pulp.

The book captures it far better then what Im writing.

Firing my Hellgun into a Fire Warrior's head....

The DKoK was born from a civil war between loyalist and traitors to the Emperor. The loyalist leader found it a good idea to enter orbit with his fleet to bombard the planet for a while to break the stalemate. combatants left on the planet entered shelters, and after the bombardment ended they re-emerged and continued fighting, despite the now barren landscape and horridly polluted air. This polluted air forced them to equip the now iconic gas masks to survive the harsh conditions.

DKOK is the only IG army I ever saw swastikas on. Edgy move, but i have seen more than one army of the contextually inaccurate nazi death korps.
I'm not saying it's right, or even remotely acceptable. It's just that people do it. Probably just to troll people who still give a care about hitler.. or for the laughs. whatever.
