Greetings,

I'm looking for some feedback on trial conversion I've made.

Due to every one I know not really having a clue what they are looking at, perhaps those of you who are "in the know" with the hobby could glance over the model and offer some feed back.

Thoughts?

I know, I found it difficult to come up with a cheap easy way to create the illusion of some form of engine housing.

the over all plan was to make 3 of these in total, and my bits box was being rather unhelpful when it came to ideas.

That makes sense. Next time go with some plastic tube or similar (if you can find some). painting the 'wheel' the same colour as the chassis, and maybe adding soem detailing, will go long way to masking it's origins.

Loose the grenade launchers, change the wheel to something less wheelish and your golden.

Otherwise, nice kit bash!!!

P.s. i saw another jetbike once that used the afterburners form a SM jumppack. Try them.

Not sure of the melta gun on the side. Then again, that's a personal gripe, as I'm a symmetry fan.

How lame was that sentence.

I think it looks good, and I see no issue with the tire housing piece. I think, if painted the same colour as the biker, or in a metallic paint, no one would notice.

Great miniature, pretty fab.

can they even have two special weapons? (plasmagun and meltagun)
the rest looks pretty awesome, the only thing that kinda bugs me is the front air-intake, i would change the angle by 90 degrees on the little plasticard strips so the air actually can get in.
an idea to make the wheel look less wheel like is to paint the inner tire (the places in between the edges if you know what i mean) blue or some other colour to make it looke like something is happening in there.

In general it looks really good. The engine at the back does look too wheely though. It could do with being a different colour, or at least have some metallic weathering to make it look well used.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Like it, though for constructive critism: I would loose the smoke launchers and replace with something like the exhaust pieces from the new Leman Russ kit or some cooling vents like on the nose. The paint sceme is nice, but in order to hide the wheel I would suggest making it metallic and carbonised along with the tail pipe.

Nice job though, I hope you show us the squadron when done.

Thanks so much for the feedback, that's just what I'm looking for.

Will post some more pics once I've made some adjustments to the rear end of the bike.

I didn't have an issue with the wheel, but I bet if it wasn't black it would be even better. Is this a legal unit type? I've never heard of a twinlinked plasma + meltagun jet bike.

But from a purely looks perspective, I love it! Great kitbash.

Overall, a very nice job. Can you give us some details on how you put these together. Agree with the comments about not liking the smoke launchers on the sides or the wheel on the back. You can probably make some plasticard vanes for the back and I liked the idea of using jump pack components for the engines.

Sorry for the delays, seems I'm a bit of a slow worker.

I've changed the rear of the bike, tried out the jump pack route, painting should commence once the green stuff has dried more. I'll try give roleplayers jump pack lighting tutorial a try and see what the results look like.

@Ifurita would be happy to try put together a guide/instructions on how I made it. I think I should get one sorted first then put an article together.

the wheel thing was the big thing that stood out to me. glad to see the new engine made out of the jump pack. the other little thing that stood out to me is there is boltgun ammutition feeding into the twin-linked plasma guns on the front. a very minor detail but something to keep in mind if youre planning on making more of these.

Hey all,

Finally got the last part of painting done. Thought I would give Roleplayers jump pack tutorial a try.

Locate here for those who haven't seen it http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/1170/237152.page

Upon seeing how the picture came out my first thought was "Oh, would you look at that I made a face out of the engine. How quaint"

having now completed the trial I hope the next 2 I plan to make will only look better.

@Stargrave - Will pick out those Bolter feeds on the other two I plan to make, just not sure how I'm going to mask them at this point.

You could say that those are slugs that become energised as they pass through plasma coils, acting in a way similar to a regular plasma bolt

That looks great man. I like that you changed the engine and added that blue jet flame touch. I think you would be better off w/o the smoke launchers tho. They just look like they take away from the streamline speed of the bike and maybe even remind me of a smoke stack, which your jetbike wouldn't have. Like I said though great model.

It a space marine jet bike....how could people not know what they are looking at?

The conversion is real nice... I like that you made a vent out of the front bike tire housing....looks natural. What doesnt look natural is the bike tire on the back....no matter what color its painted, it will always looke like a bike tire to players of the game. My only suggestion is to remove the tire and replace with some other form of an engine....but the overall conversion if excellent, nice work!

Nice again. Still not sure about the smoke launchers, but that is your choice. I hope you are happy with the result, as I would be!

A detailed build posted on Dakka would be great, if you decide to build more. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for the great feedback and comments guys.

The more I look at the smoke launchers the more I'm starting to agree with you on them. At this point for that model I'll leave them on but will trial other ideas on the last two bikes

I hope to show how I make them, in a step by step process which is a very new thing to try so bear with me on that. The last two will be started after I finish my Converted Venerable Dread, BC Stern and Chaplain in Term armour.

Again thanks so much for the comments.

It looks fantastic, maybe make the smoke launchers flush with the chasis by cutting off their base, other than that I can't see much for improvement.
