I'm playing in an escalation league using a modified form of the Rules of Engagement (http://www.box.net/shared/9xt3z2pa7a), and this is my 1000pt list. The previous round was a 750, and was much the same, sans the Melta Troopers. I like the list as it has the long range firepower in the Vendettas to hold back, but it also has the mobility to be aggressive. Thoughts?

Seems fine.. but I wonder if you need two melta trooper squads @ only 1000 points? You won't be facing THAT many tanks. Just a thought.

Good point. Plus I have more Meltas in the CCS. The Stormtroopers also have a secondary role since I know we'll be playing Rules of Engagement. The accurate deepstrike can help out in a number of the missions, but Marbo does that, too.

So what do I spend the other 160 points on, if I cut a unit of Troopers? Maybe a Hellhound, HB sponsons on the Vendettas, and a 3rd Melta in the CCS? Lord knows in my last game a Hellhound would have been welcome.

Question: You have two Melta Troopers listed, are these from a platoon? If so, where is your Platoon Command Squad (PCS)?

Melta Troopers = Stormtroopers with 2x Melta

Sorry, that's the way I write my own lists, and I forget sometimes that not everybody assumes the same things when I say "Melta Troopers".

Same with when I say just "Power Blob" I mean a 21-man blob including a Commissar and 3x Power Weapons. Personal shorthand doesn't translate well.

That sounds fantastic. You'll probably really love that Hellhound's main gun @1000 points too... imagine how many choppa boys they can field with just 1000 points... *shudder*

Here's my current revision:

CCS 3x Melta: 80

Stormtroopers 2x Melta, Chimera: 160

This list brings 6 vehicles at 1000, with good anti-armor, some ranged punch, and some drive-by capability. I found in my games that I didn't like the Vets in the Vendettas. They usually hopped out, fired, then died. In a Chimera they've still got some protection while they can fire.

The only thing I'm waffle on is whether to keep the Hellhound or to put a Vendetta back. I know the template is a good idea and that I have plenty of melta for anti-vehicle, but LasCannons are so pretty. . .
