I find that anything where I can incorporate purple is my favorite color scheme. Probably not helpful for you, but I chose crepe myrtle for my inspiration for my wood elf army because they occur in nature and they are purple.

painted: 12 dryads,9 glade guard,2 glade guard scouts.
assembled but unpainted: 2 glade guard and the lord's bowman, 8 glade guard scouts, sexy elf lord
in the box: , 8 glade riders, , one female spellsinger, Orion, Ariel, the faerie queen. SOB immolator, 15 sisters.

I'd say a swamp theme fits with hovercraft better so would make a good theme, and kroot look like they could be indiginous to swamplands.

yeah...I kinda liked the swamp idea also. But the first scheme i thought of was a Blue Angels theme.

but i could do something interesting for the swamp theme, browns and greens and really dirty kinda colors. mainly rotting flesh though.

I'd paint two min's up one in each scheme and try to figure out which you prefer once you have a good look at them but if your asking our opinion then swamp!

I like that...but I am just starting and have never painted a model before. so i was going for something simple....like just a few colors that can easily be connected to a swamp theme...like rotting flesh and graveyard earth...but i really appreciate the input. Thanks

Don't worry about difficulty, this can be stippled on with relative ease. Then you just need to pick out the details in a spot colour.

:EDIT:
Quotation fail.

I've been having the same trouble determining the colour palette for my Skryre-based Skaven army. I'll probably have to try a few test models, as mentioned above.

Good luck with the ice camo. I think it can look pretty cool on Tau.

Have you browsed the dakka gallery yet? You could probably get a good idea of what looks good there. I'd go with the swamp look, lot's of people do the snow look. If you do the swamp colors, use something bright for the glyph lines and it won't look too drab.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

I find that Dawn of War's army painter is a great, great place to get your scheme down.
- If you need to see more models in the color scheme, simply look for SSpro (mod for DOW). That displays almost all units in every army available in DOW!
