I don’t know about you guys but there’s something about an army of walking trees and murderous woods that I've really loved the concept of. the love of the idea started when I saw the march of the ents scene off LOTR and when merry and pippin run into fangorn forest escaping the orcs but the problem was, I'm not a fan of the LOTRs warhammer game and neither, would it seem, is anyone else at my club or FLGS but I've started to get back into fantasy a lot and buying a 2 box sets of dryads for my wrack conversions and having a load of spare parts left over was all the motivation I needed to start a wood army (note I left out the elf part)

I’ve set myself a challenge to keep things interesting: I can only use 5 box sets of dryads to make a 2000pts army (not including Drycha and the bits that I already have). I also have to get them on the cheep as although its not necessary it helps my wallet lol my plan is to have by the end of this: Drycha, 2 units of 12 dryads, 2 units of 11 dryads, 2 branch wraiths, 8 tree kin and a tree man

So, that’s enough babbling from me, here’s what I’ve got so far (yes, its only one tree kin XD)

I like the look of the torso, but arms and legs (esp legs) could use some more bulking out... Just a bit, maybe touble or triple the thickness theyre now. Still, great concept so far!

Nice idea , a whole load of these would be a scary encounter, you should consider getting a cheap bonsai tree from tesco's they look like like Ents anyway, or maybe use real twigs and branches. i think this project has Roots " Groan "

HAHA! PUN-ished! I really like the concept i just recently bought the dryad kit myself and there seems to be plenty of spare bits so kudos for using them so well.

neil101: that might not be a bad idea, I am stuck on what to use for a tree man as I dont think the look of my treekin is solid enough for a tree man :?

realised that I over bought on the wracks so I have a box of dryads to build tonight (didnt plan on sleeping anyway lol). that does however mean that I can only use 4 more box's of dryads to build this army. my mate has a tree beard odel that hes selling for £5 so I might swap drycha for that

slight update, got another TK almost built. for those of you wishing to make your own be sure to have the lid of your swear jar open and a pile of change next to you while you work

got a branch wraith built along with 6 dryads. the dryads arer'nt worth posting till I paint them but here's the branch wraith ^^

The dryads look amazing. I'm not normally a poster in Fantasy threads, but I just have to say, those look even better than the LOTR Ents. They don't look quite as tough, but they look dead-killy and dynamic to boot.

Actually they're a little reminiscent of the old MTG Thorn Elemental artwork.

yeah the treekin are gonna need wash's and lots of them lol. I'm getting a how to off a friend at GW this weekend on how to paint them so the will be painted pics then ^^
