Go to Your Local ASDA supermarket and look in the cleaning product Aisle. Search most heartily for a product called FAIRY POWER SPRAY, it is currently on offer for £2.00! It works an absolute treat, it cleans off paint as if it is grease on a work top, some light scrubbing/finger nail work is all that is required.

Yeah I've used this stuff for a while. Wouldn't consider using anything else really. Won't touch primer though.

Can slip it into the mrs' weekly shop innocently enough too without getting any grief about buying 'more stuff for my little plastic men'

Or Dettol.

Still need to check out Fairy on plastic though, I must admit. How is it on the skin?

i've worked at asda for over five years now and never new this trick! why don't they mention these things in the training? I've only recently started stripping metal models with nail varnish remover from something i saw on here. I could have done with this trick years ago :(

Nail varnish remover is still king for metal models, then again you can get away with anything for stripping metal.

Dries your skin out a bit, also i discovered it has a hard time getting through thick varnishes (for instance if you use the Army Painter dips etc) I've used both and i prefer dettol, as you get less wastage because the (gel) of the fairy power spray tends to stick on it so everytime you pull a model out you lose a bit of the stuff.

Dettol costs slightly more, but has less wastage, is easy to use and re-use (just run it through a sieve, preferably one meant for that job) .

Dettol+ paint goo sticks like hell to anything

But sure if you want to risk poisoning yourself and the ire of the wife, go right ahead.

Yeah I use it myself and I've noticed it has some problem with black primer although I've noticed it cuts through white primer a lot easier in my experience.

Dettol and Fairy Power Spray, both great for plastics. However to deal with the paint gunk that comes from using Dettol, I use some Swarfega on the brush. It cleans the bristles, cleans your hands and helps stop the greasy paint from going back on the model.
