I just thought I'd share this, and wondered if anyone has had a similar experience. I was walking to my friends the other day for a game of 40K. I was about half way there and walked passed a Police car when they got out and called me over. They asked me what was in the case to which I could only reply "Erm, my army?" That caused some raised eyebroughs Needless to say they had me open the cases up and then went through them to check for anything that may be hidden behind the foam. Then they let me go. I guess it can look pretty suspicious to the outside observer I'm just glad I'd not kept my white basing snow in there that day!

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

I used to carry my Fantasy Army in an old gun case and was stopped by cops and they searched it and let me go. Thought it sucked but then I thought "Yah a gun case idiot" lol

I lost my ID the day before flying out to the Chicago GT one year. The security at the airport said I could still fly but with no ID but I would have to go through the otherwise random search of my person/bag.
I was very nervous about having some security guy going through my army bag (soft tackle bag) but I was loath to check it. I was nervous because they wouldn't let me get close enough to handle them myself but I had to talk them through opening up the bag. They called me over to a table and the security guard unzipped the bag and pulled out the first clear storage box. "are these Tyranids?" she said... I was shocked! I probably got the only person in the whole airport that knew what 40K was to check my bag. Who says God doesn't answer prayers?

A lot of miniature army cases look like gun cases, from what I'm told. It doesn't help if your army case is camo or emblazoned with words like "Army Case."

Yippee for police harassment.
Dunno know how British law works, but that is just BS that they can stop you just because they are paranoid and without cause.
Though your choice of words was pretty poor... It might be better to say your toy soldiers, miniatures, or hobby supplies.
In the US I would say its none of his business, and if he took it further would fall back on my rights as a matter of principle.

I have never had that problem,But i do know ways that may help.(1) If buying a case look for non black ones that are non gun shaped. When i was living in St. Louis Mo. we used plano Reel case, they are gun cases with piks of fishing reels on them.(2) keep them in a duffle or gym bag. (3 )Or paint Logos on them with Stencils. The plano Reel cases are the Best they have three layers of foam,2 egg crate 1 with pull out inserts roughly qurter or half inch.If interested in one of the cases you can buy them at Bass PRO Shops.com.They have alot of good options for cases not just the Bland fishing tackle ones.Currently i keep mine in a duffle bag when travelling for piece of mind when returning home late.We have some what of crime problem here.So thats why keep mine out of sight.Crime problem to many people playing Cops And Crack Dealers.

@notabot187-Really? You'd antagonize a cop just so you didn't have to open your case and show them your toys?
I mean, I know "it's your right" and all, but sometimes it's just easier to just show them it's ok instead of giving them cause to look for a reason to really give you problems.

SlaveToDarkness I'm loving that she knew they were Nids Players turn up from the strangest of places. There was a reverend guy from the nearby church who used to come in now and again to my old school. He also was a Chaos player. He would say things like "I'll destroy you both next time!" to me and my friend. Teachers didn't know what to think I wasn't that bothered. I had my battlefoam box in one hand and grey silver case in the other. I wasn't bothered by being stopped, should have asked for a lift True saying "my army" probably didn't help matters but it was the first thing that came to mind. I wonder what they would have done if i did have basing snow in there. It even kept in a little re-sealable bag

I already live in the most watched country in the world, I don't need my information on anymore databases than I want. I'm a law abiding citizen, and I expect the cops to be the same.
IF they give me a reason to show them, hell even if they lie to me about some threat, I will cooperate. If I find out they lie, there will be formal complaint filed at minimum.
It is the citizens duty to make sure our police are fair and follow the proper procedures, the law, and the constitution.

I have been stopped a lot of times by cops. one was I had my game case and I was walking at like 2AM. they asked if they could have permission to search my case and because they asked and didn't demand it I allowed them. As long as they treat me with respect I always return it. if he would have said "open your case up" I would have said "No I do not give consent to that" But the cops in my area seem to actually be respectful so I never had a problem with them ^.^

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood. |

Happened to me once, there was a bomb scare in the city centre and so the police were a little paranoid for a week after.
I would rather be stopped randomly than be blown up so i suppose it's better than the alternative... doesn't stop it being annoying though.

Yeah for the politics of fear.
The purpose of domestic terror like bomb threats is often to show the public how bad the regime is in how it reacts. It forces the government to restrict civil liberties, which can greatly aid the popularity of a cause.
Of course GB has already suspended many civil liberties both officially and unofficially. I mean can you really say anything good about a government that has constant surveillance, huge data bases (some which have been abused illegally), and makes private gun ownership illegal?

From what I've been led to understand, they're "still crossing the border to pay for surgeries" that are not of a necessary nature, like breast augmentations or nose jobs, etc.
In which case, it's likely that the government just finds those things to be completely y'know...unnecessary compared to someone needing a kidney transplant

I met a kid one day at a sky train station (think flying subway train) to pick up 2 landraiders. When we were making our transaction 2 undercover skypigs snuck up on us and came out of no were. After a couple questions they realized we were doing nothing illegal and they left, they said from afar it sorta looked like we were selling atm something or others.
