IG and BA are so dime a dozen. When was the last time I saw a Deathwing army? Probably never. I thought they only existed in the WD studio.

I like the fluff on deathwing and faq fixed them.

That's your answer man. If you like the look and fluff of the army, then go for it. Nice low model count too.

I voted deathwing because it is the only list that is in any way optimised.

I'd be tempted by a Deathwing in Stormraven army. Low model count but hilarity all round.

Problem is I like the fluff and look of IG and crons, hence the problem with my decision

Deathwing looks really as the totally no-brain list honestly.

And, of course, as Brutii11 said you wouldn't be the original for sure..

I like phylosophically the Necron choice but you'll be better waiting the new codex waited for next autumn if I'm not wrong.

Ba list need a lot of fix. 5 Tacticals Marines and 10 Scouts wouldn't never be enough in an obj. game.

My advice is to start with BA because:
1 - it's a strong codex;
2 - as almost all the marines you could play them in very different ways almost alwais at an average competitive/fluffy level;
3 - nice background and a lot of special characters.

But as alwais, in the beginnin, I'll advice you to play at least 10/20 1000 points games. Ony after, step by step, you cuold increase the level. Imho obviously.

If not.. yeah Deathwing is pretty captain insano.

The deathwing list looks good on paper... but doesnt play that well. Too many hard counters to it will means that you will do great some games, then most others fold like a wet paper bag.

Army selection depends on what is more important to you: winning, always, at all costs, or the modelling/painting/fluff aspect of the game.

If its the latter, I'm afraid I cant help, I lean more to the first option myself

Wanting to win doesnt mean you cant play an army that you like and looks good, though. If you like IG, buy them and pwn face. Against most of the regular muppets at your FLGS you should be able to crush most people with even a suboptimal IG list. Even more so with Blood Angels. Same thing with the deathwing list, it will be enough to smack battleforces around at your FLGS, and will earn you the title of TFG for playing 25 THSS, but it doesnt hold up too well in tournament play.

But yeah nice choice with the deathwing, if you want a change of pace you can always play them as shooty black templars, as they're a great counter to lots of mech lists (razorspam hates them, mech IG isnt too happy either)

I hate to say it, but all of those lists are pretty crappy. The only one vaguely worth going for is the deathwing, but even then there are plenty of army builds that can rip that to shreds.

Well there are counters to all armies if you dedicate to taking it down, but i also understand bubblewrap/hordes will be deathwings enemy, however its a base for me to learn more off of and go from their
