Just out of curiousity, is there any kind of a market for the back catalog of out of print rule books and codices? I ask because I uncovered a lot of old army books and various versions of the 40K and Fantasy rule book over the weekend. As they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure, and I was just wondering if there was a certain subset of people out there who collect these things for the fluff, artwork, or hobby sections.

Depends how far back they're going. 3rd and 4th editions don't have much use, but Rogue Trader, especially the core rulebook, sells well on eBay. 2nd edition stuff does alright. There is a market for this stuff, but it's not exactly on fire.

No indeed, that's the problem with stuff that has been mass produced! Rogue Trader stuff (1st edition) tends to be worth the most, especially if you have the hardback rulebook.

Also, 2nd edition seems to be undergoing a bit of a renaissance at the moment, with players taking it up again, so if you have any of those rulebooks or codecies they might be worth something on ebay.

The only ones I see going for good money are the RT era Relms of Chaos books (Lost and the Damned, Slaves to Darkness) and the RT era Chapter Approved book. All 3 go for $100+.

Most 2nd edition stuff goes for a few bucks, $20 tops.

Recently I saw the 2006 WHF RPG book Tome of Corruption (an update of the old Relms of Chaos books) going for $70+, but there's a legal PDF of it for about $20.

I've been slowly buying some older books just for the artwork and fluff, but it's been a little hard since I like my stuff to be in pristine condition.

Most RT stuff is worth something now, the Realm of Chaos books and the Astronomicon especially. But the others sell well too, like the Ork books.

Omadon's Realm

The 2nd Realm of Chaos book, The Lost and The Damned, is the more valuable of the two as they only did one print run of it, they did two prints of the first book, Slaves to Darkness.

Plus everyone I know that owed the Lost and the Damned book it fell apart on them (poor production quality) So that makes the market even tighter of people looking for this book in one piece.
