IMO,Chain mail is far to bright for the trim on Death Guard, unless you plan to use lots of dark washes to make it appear worn and ancient.

For my own Death Guard I went for a rotted/rusted look on the trim, using Dark Flesh,a light brush of Boltgun,a stippling of Blazing Orange followed by a wash of watered down brown ink and another stippling of Blazing Orange mixed with a bit of Dark Flesh.

Have you chosen a colour for your armour yet?

Foundation Paint range contains several colours that are perfect for anything Nurgle-related. Knarloc Green, Khemri Brown, Tallarn Flesh, Iyanden Darksun and Dheneb Stone build up the main colours for any Nurgle models of mine. For metallics it doesn't make much of a difference whether you choose Chainmail or Boltgun Metal, but it may be a good idea to choose the lighter colour and darken it up with washes. Heck, that is actually the basic method how I paint Nurgle. White undercoat, light basecoat, lighter highlight, then wash (or dip) for shade. My basecoat is usually any of the Foundation Paints mentioned above mixed with Bleached Bone (or Skull White in case of Dheneb Stone). When in doubt, add more Bleached Bone.

Rotting flesh works well, i also used a mixture of elf flesh, with dwarf flesh mixed with with vermin brown for trim

Chainmail is good. Here's what I do:

Basecoat- Dheneb Stone
Drybrush Camo Green
Drybrush Rotting flesh
Wash low parts devlan mud
paint trim chainmail
Wash entire model with thinned down Badab black
Wash 'fleshy parts" with baal red
eyes, tubes and whatnot can be whatever, although I use scab red

Hope that helps. It's a really fast scheme.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I give mine a mottled white wash, dark olive green trim and then a fairly heavy brown wash.

Some really nice examples of paint schemes here.

For my own Death Guard I started with a base of Knarloc green for the armour and worked up using Camo Green and Rotting Flesh/Bleached Bone using various washes of Brown ink and Devlan mud as I went.

For tubing's/etc I used Mechrite Red as a base, but did a great deal of dry brushing with Bleached bone and washing with Ball Red and Blue to give them an almost organic look.

For any flesh areas,I attempted a "zombie ish" look, using a variety of greys/blues/purples as a base and lots of dry brushing/highlighting with lighter tones plus a lot of various washes.
And of course I've outlined how I went about doing metals and such.

Overall, there is no "Right or wrong" way to do Death Guard,so long as the basic theme of rotted/decayed is conveyed.

I bought Three of the Death Guard marine conversion kits and two of the Terminator conversion kits and that was a bit pricey when added to the cost of the necessary GW kits.

However, you do end up with a fair amount of left over bits that can be used for other projects.
Alternatively, you could always buy the FW conversion kits and simply purchase the needed bits for completion.

But to answer your question,yes...it's expensive.

Not exactly sure what your asking in your first question.
For Termies I like to use a lot of combi meltas...but that's just my personal preference.
