... my baby's got me locked up in chain....
*bobs head to Beatles music in brain*
ANYWAYS.... I'm modeling a Terminator of every HQ unit in my Space Marine Army. And, I've come to my Daemon slaying Librarian. I have a couple of daemon heads and tomes that I want to chain to the model with my tiny jeweler chain....
SO... idea, check. Supplies, check.
How do I do this? If I just wrap it, it will be hard to paint.... if I you GS I think it'll look lumpy...
Any tips?

Paint it first then wrap it?
Also, read your sentences aloud to yourself before posting.

How did you want it to look? Did you want it to hang from a belt? Did you want him holding the head in the air by the chain? For the head, I would probaby model some kind of spine extruding from the neck, and then attaching the chain to that. For a tome, I would probably just glue the chain to the back of the book, and, then glue the other side of the chain to a belt, or perhaps find a way to fasten it to the corner of the pauldron.

Jewelers chain is easy to paint. Just paint all of it black and brush lightly with your metallic.
I've done it on a Dreadnought that was primarily dry-brushed and it didn't even get in the way.

Or make slightly bigger loops from a staple, and then feed it into the chain on one end, and then into a small hole on the part your chaining.
Look at the chain on GrotNob there. Its pretty easy to make the staple a nice circle, but being Orky, you tend not to. But either way it makes it pretty simple.

Well, see, I'm going more for a 'strapped to' look, and less of a hanging look. Hanging makes sense.
Something like this... where the chains are holding it to his armor.... same with the daemon heads, like they are chained to his shoulder or back.

I know you said you're worried about GS being lumpy, but if you practice with it a bit and make sure it's fresh it can make pretty decent chains. I actually put some on marine shoulderpads to great effect for some of my Sternguard.
Here's the tute I followed, props to Whatwhat:

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Oh well if thats how you want the chains thats even easier. Small chains like that superglue together like no bodies business. Just do the glue spots on the back of your piece where your going to glue it to the body of your marine. Easy cheesy, and if you mess up a little itll be hidden on the marine anyways.
