Has anybody been noticing the large amounts of spam in the off topic forum? Lately, it seems as though the threads with the most views/comments tend to be people posting rather large amounts of NSFW material, and nothing else. I was wondering if threads such as "Things you don't understand about the opposite gender" would be considered ripe for deletion/locking as soon as they (inevitably) attract trolls and the like, who seem to be bent upon being offensive? If so, I was wondering if it would be good to have a larger group of lesser-mods that deal with the Off-Topic forum?

Off-Topic is the "anything that doesn't fit into wagames or other game hobbies" portion of the website dedicated to such nonesense.

So long as they adhere to the fundamental rules of DakkaDakka, there is nothing to stop the onslaught of "What I had for breakfast" or "Frazzled's Weiner Dog Pics" threads.

That being said, I am in no way helping the OT Forum achieve enlightenment, but I do know some of the symptoms of the problem.

P.S.- Pay $25 to yakface and find out how the top posting moderators have tens of thousands of posts under their belt. :wink:

If you don't like it, then don't read on and hit the report button. The moderation is fine but can only respond to the reports generated. The very nature of the OT forum generates some topics that some people consider entertainment yet others perceive as spam.

Don't like? Don't read. Simples.

I haven't bothered to look at the specific thread mentioned because I already know all of Womankind's secrets.

If anyone thinks a thread is rubbish, hit the yellow triangle button.

Spam threads and post are not allowed even in the OT forum. If you spot something you think is spam, hit the yellow triangle button on that post to alert a moderator.


With that said, there are alot of topics that you may feel are pointless but are legitimate points of conversation. As long as actual discussion is being had (instead of just random spammy blathering) then those topics are fine. Remember, you always have the option NOT to read a thread you aren't interested in!
