Subject: Help Chowderhead find good punk(?) music!
I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

I've been listening to that for years.
Well,I suppose so...a bit "poppy",but obviously Ska influenced.
Of course there is no one "sound" that defines "punk"....Crass and GG Allen sound nothing alike...but both are considered "punk".

Streelight is indeed Ska, but...different Ska. There are waves of ska, from heavily reggae influenced stuff, all the way up to pop-ska like Less Than Jake.
If you want to listen to possibly the single greatest ska band EVAR, take a look at the Specials.

I'm so blitzed it's hard to read but I'm just going to name songs so I don't know if anyone put them,:
For fast modern punk, The Offspring are an obvious choice. Americana, Conspiracy of One and Rage and Grace I'd recommend, though everyone seems to like the older stuff better.
Mommy and Daddy, Femme Fatality and MSI is at least punkish though probably more technical yet crazy rock.
For more traditional stuff, I'd say Velvet Underground, though it's more in spirit and nowhere near as driving. This hsould make sense.
Worship me.

Streetlight's pretty awesome, but I don't think they're Punk. I think Dead Kennedys was said once already, but they should be mentioned again. Also, NOFX (for what I like to call "zen punk"):
Automatically Appended Next Post: I'd agree with Offspring. I wasn't a fan of Conspiracy of One or Americana, though I did like Rage and Grace. The early stuff was pretty good too. They just got too much pop in Americana, and yes, I do see what they were doing there. It just didn't do it for me.

Meh,I'd consider Greenday (dookie and the albums before it) Punk in the same way I consider The Descendants punk.
The music is much more "pop",but the roots are there.

To clarify I meant lots of the list isn't punk not lots of greenday.
