On a boat, Trying not to die.

Title says it all. I just heard this song:

And now I love it. I looked them up, and they are a punk band, apparently. Does anyone have any ideas on where else to go for music like this?

Yeah, punk! Oi!

Anyways, I'm more of a ska, ska/punk kinda guy, but every rude boy loves punk and every punk loves ska. So here are some of my favorite punk bands.

Also, some mildly explicit lyrics...its hard to find clean punk!

I've got a whole lot more, ranging from 'poppier' punk, to hardcore political punk, new and old. Also, check these guys out...more ska/punk blend.

And what thread about "punk music" would be complete without the Dead Kennedys?

I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but does Streetlight Manifesto count as Ska Punk?

I've been listening to that for years.

Well,I suppose so...a bit "poppy",but obviously Ska influenced.
Of course there is no one "sound" that defines "punk"....Crass and GG Allen sound nothing alike...but both are considered "punk".

Misfits anyone? the lyrics are a bit weird, but what do you expect when a band mixes punk rock with horror movie themes and imagery?

So, my father just pulled out every Bad Religion album made until 2005.

Any suggestions?

Ewww...Fall Out Boy...

Streelight is indeed Ska, but...different Ska. There are waves of ska, from heavily reggae influenced stuff, all the way up to pop-ska like Less Than Jake.

If you want to listen to possibly the single greatest ska band EVAR, take a look at the Specials.

I'm so blitzed it's hard to read but I'm just going to name songs so I don't know if anyone put them,:

For fast modern punk, The Offspring are an obvious choice. Americana, Conspiracy of One and Rage and Grace I'd recommend, though everyone seems to like the older stuff better.
Mommy and Daddy, Femme Fatality and MSI is at least punkish though probably more technical yet crazy rock.

For more traditional stuff, I'd say Velvet Underground, though it's more in spirit and nowhere near as driving. This hsould make sense.

Worship me.

Probably work

Streetlight's pretty awesome, but I don't think they're Punk. I think Dead Kennedys was said once already, but they should be mentioned again. Also, NOFX (for what I like to call "zen punk"):

I'd agree with Offspring. I wasn't a fan of Conspiracy of One or Americana, though I did like Rage and Grace. The early stuff was pretty good too. They just got too much pop in Americana, and yes, I do see what they were doing there. It just didn't do it for me.

And Op Ivy. You should listen to Operation Ivy.

Meh,I'd consider Greenday (dookie and the albums before it) Punk in the same way I consider The Descendants punk.
The music is much more "pop",but the roots are there.

To clarify I meant lots of the list isn't punk not lots of greenday.
