i know this is ridiculous overkill but i use it all the time and i really think this squad is the best possible close combat squad out there and actually unbeatable if they get the charge.
i use;
logan grimnar
ragnar blackmane
10x WG termis with wolf claws and stormshields.
is there anything out there that could stand a chance against this squad if it charged? its ridiculously hard, all together it has; furious charge, +d3 attacks on the charge (provided by psycho blackmane) , preffered enemy (provided by mister grimnar) re roll to wounds (from the claws) three + invuns and the possibility of adding an attack when grimnar feels the need.
if i charge with this squad everything dies. i want to know what people would use if they had to fight this in cc or if they can think of a tougher cc squad.
oh btw this squad costs 1045 points

If a 1,045 point deathstar unit hits home, I'd think it would hurt!
But as you're walking I guess the real question is why your opponent is letting it hit home in the first place. 1,045 points buys a looooooooot of stuff and at the end of the day, Wolf Guard still only have 1 wound.

For those points: 100 Hormagaunts w/ Toxin sacs and Adrenal Glands. Betcha I'd win, wounding on 4+, reroll 1s to hit, S4 on the charge. 300+ attacks on the charge.

Something that could beat that if charged...Vect + Lelith + 15 wyches (Or 10 Bloodbrides) maybe? Strike before, and hit you hard, also comes in at well under 1000p. Edit: Just ran a little mathhammer, epic phail... Hmm...nob biker squad of doom maybe? One of the fails of that unit is that you seem to expect the charge, which is kinda hard with footsloggers without fleet...

Well my usual trick is to put Ragnar and Grimnar in one LR and 8 termis in another and then have them join when im ready to charge but i mainly play apoc so i just stick em in my stormord.
But i really really want something thats a challenge for ths guys. If they charge any 2 or even three squads die if i can multicharge and i just want m true sons of russ to have something meaty to sink there teeth into lol.

Also: The Deciver. You WON'T get the charge and the only thing it that unit that can hurt him is Logan (woundng on 4's) and Ragnar (wounding on 6's, get's ID'd)

I knew tyranids would be the best bet lol. I still think if i got my charge and was lucky enough to get the full +3 attacks and added living legend to the mix that i could squish those bugs.
id have 60 I5 S5 attacks re rolling to hit and to wound from my WG as well as 9 I6 S6 attacks from grimnar and the same from ragnar re rollin to hit. likelihood wise i should with around 45 claws after PE and around 15 from the heroes and wound with pretty much all 60. Do horms even have invuns?

No, the homrs don't have any invuls, but they DO have I5, which means that they strike at the same time as the guards, or before if they are in cover. The deciver still eats that squad. But loses badly badly against the gaunts. EDIT: Let's say that the heroes kill 10, 90 gaunts = 180 attacks = 105 hits = 52 wounds = 8 or 9 dead termies. You'd win by alot and the gants would be popped, but the heroes would be awefully lonely.

i do struggle to get the charge its true but only in standard 40k. in apoc i either use flankmarch or a stormlord and im pretty much set. Im very aware this squad is very costly but i just cant give up on it, theres nothing like watching the masters of the black crusade drop lke flies when you charge at them from a huge ass tank lol.

Easy to top
Mephiston
Libarian-epistolary, sanguine shield, storm sheild, might of heroes, jump pack
Sanguinary preist-PW, JP, Infernus pistol
30xDeath Company, 30xThunder Hammers, 6xInfernus Pistols 29x Jump Packs, 24xPower Weapons, Lemartes
Nothing non apocalypse and even then only units with with over 100 models. in the game can take a charge from this.
and its only 3000 points.
the librarian gives the squad constant cover and gives mephiston even more atttacks.

No no no, you don't seem to understand. It's totally impossible to charge the deciver, he can leave the combat if he wants!

This is all very true and statistically the guants should wound with at least 75. That could wipe my squad but with 2+ saves it could go either way. I think the gaunts are certainly the best challenge but im not sure they trump my squad it would be a very close run thing.
as for the IG be realistic. youll always be going last and all your men will be dead before they can think about how inadequate they are in comparrison to astartes.

I will be going last, but I will be fielding well over 60 models in the squad alone. Never underestimate an IG powerblob, those who do tend to wind up a pile of little pieces after being hacked apart by power swords.

The IG would die i could have a max of 75 attahs which statistically most of would hit and wound. id be hittin on 3up and woundin on 3 up with the termis. there be at the most ten men left to fight back and even if they were all power swords id have all my uber invuns so they die.
like is say i agree the nids would be a good fight., just wish i knew some nid players lol. i never played nids once, my local gw isnt where they gather apparently....

....No heroes attached? Your OP has you using Logan AND Ragnar. I think they count as heroes. But let's do the math against what I could toss in as IG with the similar points value.
I'd bring:
Infantry Squad: Power Weapon, Commissar w/ Power Weapon
Infantry Squad: Power Weapon, Commissar w/ Power Weapon
Infantry Squad: Power Weapon, Commissar w/ Power Weapon
Infantry Squad: Power Weapon, Commissar w/ Power Weapon
Infantry Squad: Power Weapon, Commissar w/ Power Weapon
Priest w/ Eviscerator
Priest w/ Eviscerator
All of those blob up.
Conscripts: 30 extra (jointed by Lord Commissar)
Lord Commissar w/ Powerfist
And finally, a CCS w/ Straken.
This all comes out to a but under 1000 points, and like you it has a pair of HQ choices, and a lot of troops. Now let's do the math, shall we? I don't have the SW codex, so I'll trust your figures on attack numbers.
75 attacks->50 hits->33 dead Guardsmen. I kill 33 Conscripts. I now have 17 Coscripts and a Lord COmmissar left, 57 strong Imperial Guard blob left, and Straken's CCS.
I hit back, with Furious Charge and Counter Attack. So yes, you kill a bunch of my guys, I kill a bunch of yours. I have a ton more bodies than you, and will slowly but surely grind your death star to mush. I may lose almost everything, but I'll have stopped your Death Stars charge dead in its tracks.
