the ctan ignores saves, and is t8. making it the same as a wraithlord but with more punch, an invul, and eternal warrior(?) or at least cant be insta killed by anything in the OP
Of course, nothing is ever certain until the dice are rolled. But with mathhammer (or just playing with statistics and percentages), a person can always get an idea of how well a unit will do most cases. It's called "Playing with the odds", so instead of charging blindly, you're taking a calculated risk.
(IT'S ALSO THE SAME REASON WHY WHITE LIONS ARE MORE EFFECTIVE AGAINST A DOOM WHEEL INSTEAD OF SWORD MASTERS!
)
And in regards to Ctan, the fight is a lot closer than you might think. True that noone other than Logan has a real chance of taking him down, but that being said, both Logan and Ctan will cause on average 1 unsaved wound to each other after all saves are taken. With another nip and poke from Ragnar, the balances may shift. And if you use Gaze of Death at all, then you're definitely losing to Logan, since you can only hitting him once at most with that attack. Put someone else in with Eternal Warrior against Ctan, and it's a whole new fight.
And I thought this thread was dead after the last time I posted in it...

Had to post due to how false this statement is.
Ragnar would get an average of 7 attacks, 6 hit, 5 wound, 1.5 failed saves
Grimnar would 8 8 attacks, 7 hit, 6 wound, 2 failed saves
The Wolf Guard would go next with an average of 40 attacks, hit with 30 of them, wound with 26, and an average of 8.5 wounds would be dealt after saves.
This all occurs before anyone except Vulkan gets to retaliate.
