At last the time has come. I have nothing else i'd rather put together and I am bored. So I want your opinion. Which sentinel, and why?

I have 2 Sentinels to build, from my battle forces.

In case you feel you need to know what else I have to make a decision, the composition of my entire army as it exists in its WYSIWYG form is the following:

HQ

CCS: Medic, Regimental Standard, Vox, Flamer, Astropath, OotF, MoO
Primaris Psyker

Troops

Infantry Platoon
PCS: 4x Flamer, Chimera w/ ML and HF
2x Infantry Squad w/ Grenade Launcher, Autocannon
Commissar w/ Bolt Pistol
Mortar Heavy Weapon Squad

2x Melta Vets w/ Shotguns, Demolitions, Chimeras w/ ML and HF
2x Plasma Vets w/ Plasma Pistol, Vox

1x Penal Legion Squad

Elites

Guardsman Marbo

3x Ratlings

Fast Attack

2x Vendetta

Hellhound

Heavy Support

Leman Russ Demolisher w/ HF

Leman Russ Executioner w/ Plasma Sponsons, HF

Manticore Rocket Launcher

Armored. If you have the ability to take armored over non, then take them. It's just more vehicles on the table that your opponent must shoot. It's better to flood the field with vehicles if your already running a lot.

This. Scout Sentinels are, overall, useless. Armored Sentinels with Autocannons or Plasma Cannons are a nasty surprise for any army that doesn't Deep Strike.

On moon miranda.

They can be nasty for armies that DS too. "oh hey, you dropped your mega squad of awesomeness in the middle of my gunline? Well, I'm just gonna toss this AV12 walker into them on my turn, your squad gets to sit in combat with an AV12 walker for the rest of the game, I hope you brought a Chainfist, if not, have fun with that!"

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

For the cost of an armoured sentinel, I'd rather take another chimera. Go with scout sentinels for outflanking fun with autocannons and heavy flamers.

Basically for the cost of Armored sentinels 75pts with 12/10/10 1 plasma cannon not mentioning losing scout and move through cover ,
you can get executioner , 190pts for 13/11/10 3 plasma cannon shots. Add 40 points you get 2 more plasma cannons.
Points for points , expensive but effective. You already have vendetta which should be good anti tank.
Invest Scout sentinels to flame + get into CC against infantry holding Anti tank weaponry. now your executioners should be free to roam free and kill everything uncontested.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

You can always build one with half the armour on so it can swing both ways, or make the top section removable with pinning/magnets so you can swap between the two.

I doubt that it would last longer than a turn against a decent death star. If they get bogged in combat with them for the entire game, then I'm afraid they're doing it wrong.

I agree with Silver magnets/pinning in order to mix and match when wanted is the best solution.

Having said that, all of my Sentinels are armoured (I think I have 12 or 13 ). I need to keep my men alive somehow!

I like the Sentinel, I run 4 of the armoured type with auto-canons and a HK, they can act as a fire support platform or an escort unit, or a front line bolster, or a CC tar pit.
Also where eles in the IG codex are you going to find plasma cannons, LRBT sponson?
Besides if armed with the multilaser you can legitamitely go "PEW PEW PEW!" et' Star Wars style

Jeez Silver. You should at least be able to field an Emperor's Talon Recon Company

I love the look of armored but I always run mine as scout. The outflank is worth much more than the extra armor on the front IMO.

I'd say in regards to your army list, Armoured is likely better for superior armour saturation and to act as speedbumps for the likes of Ork Mobs etc.

However, in general I'd recommend Scout Sentinels. Scout + Autocannon/Lascannon + Side Armour = Win.

I like scout sentinals with auto cannons and HK missile. They don't last long, but the turn they come in they get 3 shots at a decent strength against side armor.
