Subject: grey knights- different colours?

So I was thinking about the incoming grey knights, and wondering if it was fluff-plausible to have different colours.
If not straight-on, is there a scenario that allows it?
I might either do normal grey, or black with bleached bone knees, elbows, heads and shoulder pads.

just like everything else I'm sure there is some type of plausible reason you could do your own color schemes.

The Grey Knights once shanghaied a bunch of terminator suits to equip about 300 or so Grey Knights (the armour was from from other chapter) due to time restraints they couldn't be repainted so the strike force went into battle wearing over a dozen different chapter colours. Due to this the opposition thought they were fighting over 12 chapters so they quickly retreated/surrendered.

The GK chapter always encouraged its members to have their own heraldry and to paint it on their armour (usually on the escutcheon near their left shoulder plating). You could say that, for some reason, some of your GK actually started painting heraldry symbols on other parts of their armour (painted leg guards, symbols on the chest plate, etc)

Maybe there are a select group of GK that are a part of a specialized section of the chapter that have a different armor color scheme. This is just a suggestion but I'm sure you can find some wiggle room somewhere to make some badass looking GK.

Come on people... i put a perfectly good reason for having different armour colours...
Most chapters venerate the Grey Knights and will support them in anyway they can. If a Grey Knight strike force needed some armour from a chapter the chapter would comply and give them some armour the GK may not have time to repaint it and may end up going into battle wearing all kinds of different colours.

It's debatable whether the Exorcists were formed from GK gene-seed. They share their talent for daemon slaying but they are not quite as elite. They might be spiritual descendants of the GK but they are not actual descendants, not through gene-seed or organisation anyway.

I think it could be debatable if most chapters would give their suits of power armor to any other chapter including the GK simply because of the fact that most power armor is treated as a revered artifact of a chapter. Although there
may be the odd chapter that might comply for fluf sake. Or maybe instead of a chapter giving the power armor to the Grey Knights they find a chapters forgotten cache of power armor from the heresy era or some other time.

I meant loan rather than give... they wouldn't let the GK keep them but they would allow them to borrow the suits.

In the fiction, Grey Knights are mostly scattered across the galaxy, getting deployed and re-routed to wherever they are needed next. Depending on how long and to where they are deployed, their forces may develop unique variations on the basic scheme. So much for justifying it, how does it look? I have seen miniatures and illustrations of Grey Knights, both official and otherwise, that have plausibly ranged from silver to NMM, incorporated various grays, or covered in gold filigree or red enamel to point of having very little visible gray/metal.

Addressing your specific schemes, a dark gray scheme with bone trim would certainly be unique. It could look quite good for a "Ghost Knight" unit, although I think a low-contrast approach would be suitable.

I suppose you could say that each armor color could be different based on their Watch Fortress at which they are based. Then again though I would keep it a metal color to keep up with the "bare armor" theme of the army.

I suppose you could make an alternate colour scheme, since one exists for alt Death Company as well, for example. But on the other hand, Grey Knights are GREY knights.

Grey Knight armour hold a meaning though, so it isn't as easy as justifying other marine chapter alternate colour
But i am guessing you can paint shoulder pads, knee pads, give a pattern of some sort to the grey knights

The new codex, you mean? Because the old codex has standard GK colors on the back cover and one alternate (red) painted GKT on page 48.
I'd be very interested if the new codex has alternate paint schemes baked in. Yay for variety and possible fluff reasons for it.

They were originally red.
And by that, I don't mean their fluff background originally has them as red and then they changed. I don't really know if anything ever went into it.
I do know that the White Dwarfs I own from roughly 20 years ago all have the Grey Knights in the Heavy Metal sections painted red in the same scheme.
The Daemonhunters codex was the first time I saw their models painted differently by the GW staff.
