This is my first Battle Report, please forgive any muck ups.
I'll report in a factual manner for the most part, but will interlude with accounts at some points.

The Battle For Tertius Minoris
The Cleansing of Tertius Minoris, an agri-world of relatively minor importance, of the Ork Threat finally concluded in a 7 year campaign. Due to the relatively close proximity between Tertius and Vostroya, several Regiments of the Firstborn, both armour and infantry, were assigned. Ordinarily, even a handful of these regiments would be enough to secure the planet. However, the real strength of the Ork forces had been woefully underestimated. By the time the Vostroyan forces arrived to accelerate the expected clean-up, the meagre PDF forces of Tertius had been overwhelmed in all but the most major of population centres. The task fell to the Vostroyans to cleanse the ork threat from both continents of Minoris. It took 3 years and massive casualties to truly break the Orks as a cohesive fighting force, and another 4 years of cat-and-mouse hunting for the ork population to be deemed thoroughly culled enough that the refounded PDF forces would be able to handle the rest of the purge. The Vostroyan regiments were shipped out, enroute to the reinforce the Cadian sector just three months before the horror of the 13th Black Crusade was unleashed.
Wary of the possibility of a resurgence in the ork population, several companies of Vostroyans were left behind at the capital of Tertius Minoris, Parvana. With a tiny population of only 9 million the city was home to the only spaceport on the planet (hence the massive role it played in the early days of the Ork Cleansing.
It was there that the Eldar struck.

No one knows where they came from or why they fell upon the unprepared defenders of Parvana with such a fury. In the first few hours fully half the Vostroyan forces were destroyed and the PDF scattered. Already the Planetary Governor was dead and the capital in complete turmoil by the time Captain 'Iron Fist' Kenchovich rallied what he could of the Vostroyans, and formed some semblance of an organized defence.

Mission
Annihilation

Deployment
Spearhead, Eldar deploy first and go first.

The Dark Reapers, at the behest of the Farseer, take up an advantageous posistion in the rooftops of the St. Marcus Chapel.

The Sons of Vostroya hurry to support the Armoured Division.

Eldar Deployment (Twisties make an appearence)

IG Deployment

Turn 1: The Mad Dash
The Farseer sensed a shift in the winds of fate. The humans had begun to show organized resistence. Realising that they must act quickly if victory was to be secured the Farseer urged the Eldar on through a slight psychic nudge, though they needed little encouragement with the Avatar at the forefront. The Farseer cast fortune and guide on the squad of Dark Reapers he followed, their firepower would be instrumental in this battle.

The Dark Reapers opened fire on the IG Squad supporting the Human Tanks, their guided shots leaving only 3 alive. The commissar lessened that number by one when the Plasma gunner tried to make a break for it. However, this was more an instinctive reaction to cowardice as the commissar's senses soon returned and his courage failed him, fleeing with the vox in tow.

The IG armoured division advanced, the Chimera taking to the road in full view of the Avatar, the Battletanks moving over the crossing to confront the majority of the Eldar force, the Platoon Command moving up to replace the fallen Guardsmen.

Despite the mass of Imperial Weaponry including (Lasguns, Lascannons, Battlecannons and Plasma) brought to bear only a single Dire Avenger fell to a stray battlecannon round. To the men of Vostroya it appeared that the ethereal warriors before them were invincible.

Turn 2: The Gap Closes
As the Avatar sped off in pursuit of the Chimera, the rest of the Eldar forces continued to advance, though the pace of some slackened enough for some to let off a few shots. Fuegan scored a hit on the Armoured sentinel, but the fusion gun only scorched the heavy armour, doing no lasting damage. The Dark Reapers, once again guided by the Farseer, turned their atttention to the Company Command. However the Exarch, who had done so much to the IG Squad beforehand, was out of range. His apprentices did manage to kill two of the humans, though they held their ground.

Realizing that soon the Eldar would soon fall upon the main Imperial Guard mass in a few moments, the driver of the Chimera, a man who doubtless had balls of ceramite, sped down the main roadway in a daring counter-attack. The Avatar, surprised that his quarry now hurtled towards him, stumbled out of the way. The Chimera swerved around, skidding to a halt, and the Veteran squad inside leapt out to deliver their volley into the closest squad of Dire Avengers, killing 4 which left only the Exarch alive. A battle cannon round glanced another squad, killing 2. Ordinarily this volume of fire would send any sensible warrior diving for cover, but the presence of the Avatar kept the Dire Avengers in line.

A lascannon round finally made its mark, picking off dark reaper and forcing to the Farseer and the squad to flee inside.

The Volley of Fire thrown across the roadway by the sentinel and guardsmen only managed to score a single wound against Fuegan, his legendary resistance to pain shrugging much of the damage.

Turn 3: Into the Fray
The Eldar forces leap forward as the Farseer and Dark Reapers regroup and make their way back to the rooftop. Levelling his fusion gun at the Sentinel at Point blank range, Fuegan fires. The lethal payload melts through the weakened armour with ease, burning the human occupant alive. The Avatar, angered at the insult of being ignored, throws his weapon at the Chimera, wrecking the Vehichle, while the surviving Dire Avengers aim their sights on the Veteran squad, their shuriken weapons killing two before leaping into combat. Two of the Veterans are dealt mortal blows, while the Sergeant manages to hack one of them down in return. The Veterans flee, only to be run down, leaving the Dire Avengers the victor.

The Harlequins dance gracefully over the crossing and launch themselves into the guardsmen squad. The humans don't stand a chance against their leering opponents, their movements too fast for the human eye to follow they guardsmen are all but cut down to a man. The lone survivor, his hands shaking too bad to return a blow, turns a flees from the massacre. The Harlequins let him go, their attention already turned to the remants of resistance.

Witnessing the slaughter of their comrades, the Vostroyan response is furious. All available weapons are brought to bear on the lead Eldar, Fuegan. Under a hail of fire, even the mighty Phoenix Lord falls to the onlsaught, as well as a few Harlequins unfortunate enough to be caught by a scattering Battlecannon.

Turn 4: The Blood Flows
The Eldar, desperate to close the gap before another round of lethal shooting, surge forward. The Farseer and Dark Reapers take up their position once again. The Harlequins and surviving Dire Avengers close on the Platoon Command, while the Avatar storms towards the tanks. The Shuriken Catapults kill one of the guardsmen, while the Wailing Doom from the Avatar narrowly misses one of the Battletanks. The Harlequins crash into the Platoon Command and, in a flurry of lethal blades, tear the men limb-from-limb, their killers quickly darting into cover.

One Leman Russ targets the Dire Avengers, slaughtering the survivors of both squads in a storm of lethal fire. Its partner seeks revenge for the death of the Platoon Command but, with the Harlequins lithely navigating the ruined Hab-block, only one is picked off.

Turn 5: The End Draws Near
As the Avatar continues to advance the Harlequins leap out of the ruins towards the Leman Russ. Guided by the Farseer, the one Dark Reaper in range opens fire on the Command Squad, scoring a wound on the Lascannon team. The Fusion Pistol of the Harlequins sears a track of the Leman Russ, immobilising it; while the Avatar throws the Wailing Doom once again, wrecking the other Human Vehichle. As Kenchovich watches on, the possibility of Imperial Victory becomes less and less likely.

Angered, Kenchovich once again directs the Lascannon at the Dark Reaper and Farseer located in the chapel. With the gunners keen eye and big gun, the Exarch is annihilated by the powerful shot, though the Farseer holds his ground. The immobilised Leman Russ brings to bear what weapons it can against the Harlequin Troupe. Under the salvo three of the agile Eldar are killed, including the Shadowseer and Death Jester, leaving only the Troupemaster and one other companion alive.

Turn 6: The Final Act
Leaping out of the sights of the Leman Russ, the Troupe Master leads his one follower through the ruins after Kenchovich. The Avatar turns its attention towards the surviving Russ, stunning the crew by throwing the Wailing Doom once again. The surving Dark Reaper, his aim steadied by the Farseers calming influence, manages to kill the surviving member of the lascannon team, leaving the Imperial commander the last human on foot in the field.
Fleeting up through the ruins, the Troupe Master charges the human. However, given that the Shadowseer has been killed, they are slowed down by the dug in defences, giving Kenchovich the chance to strike in tune with them. The chainsabre of the surviving Harlequin scores a slash across Kenchovich's arm, making his pistol arm useless. The Troupe Master drives his blade deep into the human's guts where it stuck, a mortal wound there can be no doubt.
Whether the Troupe Master expressed shock at what happend next or if his face was every bit as impassive as his mask will never be known. Kenchovich pulled away from the troupe master, with the Eldar blade still deep in his mid-section. Swiping at the other harlequin, the powerfist shattered the fragile skull. The Troupe Master grappled with his opponent, struggling to free his sword. Kenchovich turned with a grimace, the blade sliding further across, and embraced the Eldar as a drunk would his dancing partner. Scrabbling, scuffling, his weight pushed the Troupe master over the ledge. Together they fell to the cold concrete slabs below.

Game End
IG Kill Points: 4
Eldar Kill Points: 8
Eldar Win

The crew of the lone Leman Russ give serious thought to making a break for it.

The Farseer and his companion Dark Reaper survey the battlefield, very much emptied. Time for the the Eldar to count the cost.

Aftermath
With the last vestiges of resistance crushed, the Eldar laid waste to Parvana. The destruction of the capital was complete, no building left untouched or untorched. With Parvana reduced to ruins, the Eldar left as suddenly as they had appeared. Just under 2 years later, with the planet still reeling from the loss of their capital and the cessation of the PDF as a fighting force, the Ork numbers on Paravana reached such numbers that the infesation grew uncontrollable. Soon Tertius Minoris was firmly in Ork hands, and would remain so for another 50 years until the loss of the planet was noticed. What the Eldar gained from this, no one can say. Perhaps it is coincidence that 50 years later the Fleet of Admiral Herkkone was to be redirected from its dogmatic pursuit of a minor Craftworld, which had nearly been cornered in the Vergis System, to reclaim the planet. Who can say? For the Eldar are ever an unpredictable race.

Great battle report! I figured the Guard were losing around turn 3, but it was still a compelling read and well written. Your paintjobs were also pretty nice, but basing would really make those Vostroyans shine! Some of the photography was blurry, but that seemed like a really cool game.

With the exarchs Crack Shot they pack a mean punch, especially with the Farseer on hand. After the first round of shooting they didn't really achieve much, but only becuase the Exarch was out of range for the most part.

If you're looking for marine killers, you've found them.

Forgot to mention that I love this building:

The design is nice, and I like the convincing drab paint job. Very Grimdark.

It's a fantastic piece of terrain, there are multiple levels within and a perfect sniping position from the pinnacle (if you've seen Saving Private Ryan you'll know what I'm talking about. )

While the last moment was very cinematic, shouldn't the Harlequins' Flip Belts mean that they aren't affected by terrain?

I think it allows them to ignore impassible terrain and they don't have to roll for moving through difficult terrain. I don't think they ignore it for the purposes of charging though, as the Shadowseer grants the squad offensive grenades as long as she is alive.

I think that's a holdover from 4th Edition. If I recall correctly, you don't strike at reduced initiative in 5th edition if you didn't get slowed down in the first place.

Granted I don't know the exact rules for holo-field and whether it allows them to ignore difficult terrain or dangerous terrain tests. But if you are right...

+1. If you don't role for difficult terrain (harlies never do) then grenades are unnecessary as you don't count as assaulting through cover. This isn't bad for the shadowseer though, since veil of tears is really why you should bring him anyways.
Other then this the report was excellent, especially with such great terrain.

Ow, the Vostroyans definitely had a rough time of it. Your opponent didn't have really anything in the close-range-killing department, which you capitalized on. Brutally.

Nice job, and nice pictures.

The rule in question is the flip belt, not the holo-field, but yeah-- Harlequins aren't affected by terrain and thus don't go to reduced initiative when charging through it. They're just that acrobatic!
