I am going to my flgs soon (about 2 days) and was trying to figure out what I should add to my starting dark eldar army.Right now I have: 1 Archon and two ten-man warrior squads.I was thinking about getting either wyches incubi,or reavers.I want to get raiders but their out of my price limit and Right now my only friend that plays is a necron player. With him being necron im still faster then him without the raiders.

Against Necrons? I'm no expert on DE, but on Necrons I'm ya man. Power weapons all the way! Especially when they're nice and S4 I5.

Use a Webway portal on your Archon to get your Incubi in the thick of it without taking any damage. Be careful of Lords with Warscythes though, and destroyers will rip through you.

Wyches are the total antithesis of necrons. Good in CC with mad high Initiative.

Either Incubi for their power weapons, or hellions for their mobility. Unfortunately, both have the problem of coming in packs of five, and so would be only a little less expensive than just getting the raiders your warriors need, unless you feel like running a single, particularly small squad...

I was think about wyches since when I practiced with the old codex. When i did my wyches destroyed his destroyers pretty quickly. If i get them i think i would run my archon up and drop the portal and let them run out or have them draw threat away from my Archon and his squad.

I though incubi for thier power weapons since Right now his two main strategies with his lord is to either put him in his warrior squads or make him a destroyer lord and make him work with the wraiths.Which both strategies have been destroyed by my proxy incubi.Though hellions would be nice to pull his lord away from his squad and to have a early unit that will hurt his warriors.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I wrote the same advice in this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/347456.page

....as you are asking for in this thread.

Read it. Its all that I can offer you until you give more information about what kind of army you want to play.

And on that note, there's another piece of information that I need, also from another thread.

Just start from scratch, and check one of these for me so I can give you some direction:
[ ] I want a maximized firepower shooting army.
[ ] I want a very lethal ranged army with some close combat support.
[ ] I want a good mix of shooting and assault in my army.
[ ] I want an assault based army with enough ranged anti-tank to open vehicles and soften targets for my assaults.
[ ] I want a mostly assault based army capable of dealing with vehicles on the assault too.
[ ] I want a trick army that will take people by surprise.
[ ] I want my enemy HQ to be Steven Spielberg so that I can flay apart his soul over a thousand years for the abomination he created in Indiana Jones 4.

I want a mix army but also a trick.Since I figured out that a few more of my friends are starting to play. One wants to be space wolfs. The other wants to be either blood angels or dark angels.I think one of my friends wants to be tau.

Yeah I felt sorry for him to.So to please him his army is in my Dark eldars fluff. They keep getting raided by my army for the kroot and vespid since my Dark Eldar like to eat exotic food and kroot and vispids are pretty exotic.

Man.. Tau are going to get an update in like never.. at least get him to play Orks or Chaos if he wants an outdated codex that can still pull its weight with shooty lists.

He is stubborn. He likes the tau's fluff, look, and strategy. He wont go to another army.I wish he did though since I wont be fun for my Archon when all his units run away so that they dont get assualt.

Just annihilate him a few times, then offer him the chance to play against space wolves or bangles for an utter tabling. Then he'll see the error of his ways.

Thats what i have been warning him about. He thinks he can pop all my raiders, all of the space puppy's and blood angels rhinos with a few railguns.Which I wont be suprised if that happens but he also thinks it will stop use.Which for me wont happen since I know dark eldar are still fast with out our tissue paper raiders.

He won't pop anything if you're behind cover and/or getting a 4+ cover save, and before he knows it it's turn two and you're hacking him up in close-combat.

Nonetheless, beware railguns. But after a few matches he really won't stand a chance. Besides, BA could do a heavy jump pack or pod list, and very quickly destroy his broadsides with S8+ and Hammerheads with rocket spam and lascannons. Really is very easy to defeat Tau. Razorspam is the easiest way, with lots of lazorbacks or las/plas Rbacks (even better if you want to convert.. two weapons ftw!).

And Mephiston.. oh lordy he's doomed..

Yeah the necron player is trying his hardest to convince him but not doing to well.He might like Deamon hunters but I have no clue what were up for in that monster of a codex.

I told him that his railguns wont destroy a webway portal that is infront of his gunline.

Please, do a battle report of him being slaughtered so we can humiliate him online.. then maybe if you show him aforementioned requested thread, he'll reconsider.

Edit: alright, jokes asides, there's a BTP battle report from a few months ago of Tau V IG. IG get slaughtered, you should show it to him so he gets an idea of how to structure an army.

While we're helping your Tau friend and before the Mods eat me, here's a video I found that might be helpful. Not sure, haven't watched it, but I trust where it's coming from.
