Looking for something to make my more elite Necrons stand out a bit.
Is there such a thing as metallic black paint? Of a type suitable for use on models?
Anyone have any examples? Suggestions? Opinions on how it would look?

Mix some Chainmail with some black in a separate pot, I guess. Or just wash Boltgun Metal with Badab Black like 4 times.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

I've never heard of the company that produces this paint, but this is what google turned up.

You could try tinting metallic silver paint with black ink (I imagine ink would disrupt the shiny metallic flakes less than paint pigment, but I'm just theorizing, here) or adding a metallic/opalescent/pearlescent medium (seen it sold in craft stores like Michael's and Rag Shop, as well as in art stores) to straight black paint.

Using a satin varnish instead of gloss or matte might help give them a metallic feel, instead of looking like they're painted (too flat matte) or made of tinted glass (too shiny gloss).

Reaper makes a metallic black called Adamantium Black : http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/black/sku-down/09124

Also, if you go that route, getting a pot of their Blackened Steel will probably serve you very well - one of my favorite metallics. (really, Reaper excels in this area)

The best thing I've used was Testors Black Pearl Metallic. I used it on my first Dark Eldar army and it's pretty nice. Best of all, you can add a light drybrush of Boltgun Metal to it and it looks nice. The spray is really nice for painting a batch of Nercrons. Here's the link.

There's no mixing like stated above, and it gives it that extra luster.

Hope it works for you!

You can make any colour of paint metallic by mixing it with iridescent acrylic medium.
