Why are you not using a MultiTracker to fire two guns in one round? Like:
MP, FB, MT?
firecraker wrote:Elites: 3 firecrakers (battle suits)
Like the above? Really?

No DisPods?

Loadouts?

Have you not read the other Tau threads and seen how lists are normally posted and with what upgrades and wargear?

Brother Erekose is correct on all points.

Not to mention, broadsides REQUIRE you get them 1 support system...

Also, total points please?

You've been bamboozled. He could only have fired one weapon on each of those suits, since they don't have multi-trackers. If they DO have multitrackers, than his suits are illegal (too many hardpoints, on the elites at least.)

This list.. uh.. needs help. I suggest you read the guide to posting army lists and follow accordingly, because in it's current configuration I have no idea what you mean by half of this stuff.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
In the interest of being helpful, rather than just critical, i'll post my 1,000 point Tau list below, so you can see how standard list writing kind of looks like:

firecraker wrote:HQ:1 shas'o with 2 bodyguards with my config (firecraker, (fusion blaster, missle pod, flamer) Um...ok. I really can't see this loadout being good. I understand you are trying to build suits that can do everything, but they would be absolutely awful at it. You could only fire one of these weapons in a turn, and without any of the goodies that support systems offer (boost BS, Shoot different units, etc.). Reconsider.
Elites: 3 firecrakers (battle suits) same as above. Plus, one unit of suits? XV8's are your bread and butter. The more the merrier.
Troops: 3 squads of fire warriors (with shas;o) how many are you bringing? Because that number could be anywhere between 18 and 36. Also, why would you pay for the shas'o and not get a bonding knife? Additionally, devilfish?
Fast Attack: 5 drones, 2 piranas (with fusion blasters) never take drones. There was just a recent thread about if drones should ever be taken. The general consensus was no, never. The piranhas aren't bad.
heavy support: 2 hammer heads (railgun) 3 broadsides what is the extra weapon on your hammerheads (you know you HAVE to take one). Additionally, what wargear are you running on the broadsides?
ps: the fire crakers took out a squad of mandrakes and 5 incubi with a specail caracter in there 2 turns

So I did a rough number crunch, and I think you are going for a 1500 list here (it was hard to tell, given how unclear this list is).

I get where you are coming from with the making up your own suit loadout, but there is a reason that there are certain loadouts that everyone uses. They work, and are proven to work. Look them up and use them.

XV8 suits are your best friends. At 1500 you should have at least 6 (either 2x3, or 3x2), but more like 9. Bodyguards are overpriced, and should only be taken if you have already maxed out your elite choices.

Kroot. Bring them. Enough said.

I personally am a fan of 2 railheads and 3 broadsides, but some people swear by more broadsides. It is up to you.

To be blunt, overall, this list isn't very good. I suggest reading some other lists on here to figure out what works and what doesn't. Also, try to be more clear about what is in your list, so we can provide better feedback. I'm not trying to put you down, and I sincerely want to help you, so I look forward to you posting a new, reworked list.

Love that. There are so many Kroot-less lists asking "Why do all of our troops suck?!

I think I counted about 1250 (the number was actually 1253 I believe)

At that points level, I would suggest something like this:

Shas'el
-(PR/MP/MT)
87 Pts.

Crisis Suits (3)
-(PR/MP/MT)
186 Pts.

Crisis Suits (3)
-(TL MP/Fl)
141 Pts.

Crisis Suits (3)
-(TL MP/Fl)
141 Pts.

Fire Warrior Team (9)
90 Pts.

Kroot (10)
70 Pts.

Kroot (10)
70 Pts.

Pathfinders (6)
Warfish (Devilfish w/ SMS/TA/DP/MT)
192 Pts.

Broadside
-A.S.S.
80 Pts.

Broadside
-A.S.S.
80 Pts.

Broadside
-A.S.S.
80 Pts.

1217, so you have 33 pts spare.

A good list bringer. Though I would suggest bringing a railhead. The versatility at lower point levels makes them better than Broadsides, IMO. As the points get higher, broadsides are better, but you can't beat a large blast template. I also don't think pathfinders are efficient at point levels this low. They only become good at >1500. Piranhas work well in their place.

I don't really understand your use of the cyclic ion blaster because I've found that most special issue weapons don't actually work that well in a game setting.

Okay, this we can worth with.

First of all, one should probably not take bodyguards until fills out his elites with crisis suits. The bodyguards are more expensive than the elite-slot version.

I would suggest not using a fusion blaster and flamer together. They are both short range, but the fusion blaster is mega-tank-killy/very heavy troop-killy, and the flamer is light infantry-killy. Two very different guns, and they wouldn't go well together.

36 Fire warriors is a load. I'd suggest taking only 2 units of them (at most).

If you get devilfish, I would also get pathfinders. Also, if you get a devilfish, I would suggest giving it the following upgrades:

Smart Missile System
Targeting Array
Multi-Tracker
Disruption Pods

Gun-drones aren't worth it. I'd really suggest not taking them. I'd use those points to get 5 pathfinders or so.

Broadsides require that you get them a support system, I would suggest A.S.S.

Hammerheads should always come with the following:

Burst Cannons
Multi-Tracker
Target Lock
and then Disruption Pods

That is all I can think of...

Also, if you're building a 1500 point list, you are building a 1500 point list. Not a 1521 list. No opponent in their right mind will battle you if you are over the point limit.

I see some pretty interesting ideas but I've always played a list that doesn't really max out on any upgrades except for the XV8's.
