Alright so with a crappy round 1, I was in the loser bracket and was up against another Eldar player (surprise, both of us lost round 1
lol). His army was really well painted. and he was an awesome guy, my fav opponent of the day.
My list is in the first post.
His Eldar:
Asurmen
2x5 Fire dragons
10
DA (asurmen in here)
Wave serpent,
EML,
SS
10
DA, exarch
PW&
SS,
BS
Wave serpent,
EML,
SS
6 jetbikes, 2 cannons
6 Warp Spiders, Exarch
PW
3 War Walkers with
EMLs
2 Falcons with Shuriken Cannons
HF,
SS (dragons in here)
List thoughts: so his list has way less tanks than me. Only 4 tanks to worry about. The dragons dont scare me to much ,since melta is moot on my tanks. asurmen also doesnt scare me, since avatar can hopefully pumel him on the first go. If he doesnt, I do suffer
ID lol, so lets hope that doesnt happen.
Capture and control, dawn of war.
I won the roll to go first, and chose to go first. I placed my objective dead center in the trenches (oh and if you notice, this is one of those tables I was talking about with ZERO terrain......uhm tourny guys, this isnt 25% and there certainly isnt any
LOS blokers. this would be a nightmare for anyone facing playing guard, or suck for any foot lists. This table is definatly not fair, it didnt matter to much in our game, but this kind of stuff isnt acceptable in a large
GT).
pregame: Well, my plan is to sit my guardians on the objective, and bunker down with the avatar for a fearless hold that is hopefully hard to get out of there. anything that wants to come near has to assault by my avatar. I will goto contest turn4-5 and hopefully hve my own objective at the end.
I deployed basically in a line with avatar and guardians in the bunker. Eldrad nearby. the prisms on both ends. He deployed far right corner on his objective.
Turn 1:
I flatout both dragons. shuffle eldrad around to get near my falcon for guide. In shooting i blow up his wave serpent with
DA on his objective and he loses a lot in the explosion. Otherwise thats it.
His turn he flatouts the jetbikes. Shooting blows up a dragons tank, despite having a 4+. and he blows off the gun on one of my prisms (aww).
thoughts: alright, so a fairly even tradeout. I still feel confident in holding my objective and he hasnt shot anything at it. I have some threats on his end now with dragons, and hopefully can down another tank.
Turn 2:
My dragons alive flatout again, towards his walker. And my
DA flatout towards his lines. My fire dragons in the crater get out and blast his other wave serpent with asurmen in it. I try to ram with my weaponless fire prism but fail to hurt him, while he blows mine up
lol.
His turn, he gets his dragons out in the back, and his war walkers advance to block me. Warp spiders destroy my dragons. He cant kill my flatout dragon tank and only blows the gun off it.
thoughts: this turn also went will in my favour. asurmen is out of his tank and basically useless now. My dragons survived and will now blast those war walkers.
Turn 3:
My DA get out and shoot down his DA to one man left. my dragons get out and blow up 2 war walkers, killing a bunch of my DA in the process lol. Eldrad gets out and my storm guardians move towards his line, incase my other two tanks dont make it. I assault his last war walker and blow it up in combat.
His turn, his dragons go after my dragons. and his jetbikes assault my DA. His dragons in the falcon move to contest my objective. and asurmen and warp spiders close in on my lines. my fire dragons and DA both hold in combat.
[i]thoughts: well this turn went well. no more war walkers. and only a single DA remaining on his objective.
Turn 4:
I reroute my storm guardians and flamer his warp spiders and
DA. I kill all but 1
DA and asurmen. I put both my tanks onto his objectives (empty). My fire dragons hold onto combat and we draw. I blow up both his falcon on my objective and kill all the fire dragons inside his falcon on my objective through shooting and assault.
His turn he moves his solo
DA on his objective into the falcon. and his warp spiders assault into my guardians and eldrad. nothing happens much there. asurmen is short of combat from everything.
(no pic)
Turn 5:
I move my tanks around a little on his objective. My
DA lose combat and fail and run away. I kill asurmen through shooting and assault. I kill his warp spiders on my objective. I blow up his last falcon and kill the remaining
DA in it. his fire dragons finally kill my lone fire dragon freeing them.
His turn he MUST kill my two tanks on his objective. He doesnt blow them up in shooting, and assaults both tanks. The one tank he manages to blow up, but fails to blow up the second. securing me the win.
postgame: Well my plan worked. I stuck onto my objective, having a fearless unit sit there and when nasty things got close I assaulted them. I was lucky in not losing my contesting tanks, but thanks to them not dieing I secured the win. Great opponent and a great game.
