Alrighty so gearing up for a 2000pt locked list campaign, so once I submit this thing, I've got to stick with it. Since I am a Xenos player, it means that (at least at my FLGS) I AM the variety in the room, so I expect to face a LOT of Blangles, Swolves, Ultradudes and various other slaves to the Emperor.

As such, I have included BOATLOADS of plasma. It's awesome against marines, and it's not the worst choice in the world against everything else. Especially the recent FOTM armies.

ABFP + Hammerhead Submunition will hopefully be enough crowd control. Do you think I'll get facerolled by Green Tide/IG Blobs? If so... suggestions for additional crowd control.

I have 5 points left over... suggestions? I was thinking a Blacksun Filter on one of the Broadside team leaders.

Also, this is literally every model I own included in this list except for an Ionhead/Skyray (it's railgun is on the Railhead). I have about 100$ and 9 days to mess with this though... so if a seriously valid suggestion is.. suggested.. I am willing to make changes. (I'm thinking another box-o-kroot to make Ambush into a 16 Carnivore team, with another 13 Carnivores forming a 4th troop choice.... suggestions on where to get the points?)

FAQ:
1. I view the TL MP + TA vs. TL MP + Flamer arguement to be a matter of playstyle. I prefer Targeting Arrays, because I want to use my (albiet limited) markerlight support for other things.
2. Blastpath + Salvo each join La'Rua Detonation and La'Rua Vaporize respectively.
3. [H] $$ [W] XV8 Plasma Rifle, Hammerhead Ion Cannon and SMS Devilfish bits. PM Me.
4. Any Tau fluff heads able to translate Blastpath or Salvo (or both??) into Tau? 1 internet each, 3 internets for both. Kudos available upon request as well.

Well... thats about it.

Yeah, sorry about that Cotton. I saw the list and was going to do it... but it fell in the list and I forgot about it.

On your commanders:

I don't think CIB or AFP go with Plasma Rifles all to well, I'd make one commander have the CIB and AFP and make the other either a dethrain or a fireknife. - But I see that you want to attach them to your other fireknife units, so why not just make them both fireknifes? Leave the anti-troops to some other unit, like kroot.

Generally, I like to have 2 units of pathfinders if I get any. 1 unit can be targeted and shot down quickly, and usually that is exactly what all my opponents do. 2 units takes the enemy slightly longer to kill (though you do have to get another devilfish >.< )

If you going against many Spesh Marhines, the hammerhead is probably wasted points. AP4 Submunission at a 3+ save army? I would put in 2 more broadsides, (and maybe whiddle down your kroot to make the points for a 3rd)

Well... it's not going to be ALL space marines. Just the.. vast.. overwhelming majority.

The CIB, imo, is the second best (next to the PR), MEQ killer available to an XV8.

Aaannnd... I don't own more broadsides. Plus there is at least one Ork player in the group.

More pathfinders.. I can do that..

Less.. pathfinders I can do even easier. But then I'm running like... totally markerlightless.. I don't even know if thats a bad thing anymore, though.

Even though you only have 5 points, I'd strongly recommend giving this Target Array ... make those 7 dice count! Perhaps one kroot will call in sick for the point exchange?

I like Target Lock so the RG gets rhinos and the BCs hit the marines.

Overall, looks good. There's nothing really to change.

Hrmm.. those are hard points to find, but I bet I get more shooting out of the TA on the Pathfinderfish than one Kroot Carnivore (especially since they nearly ALWAYS outflank).

Does that actually work? Don't you have to declare what you're shooting at before you roll, and since the transport and the troops inside are different killpoints, doesn't that mean you can't shoot the Marines with the BC after blowing the Rhino with the RG? I'm just not sure.

Entirely separate thought: I've been thinking about running this list completely without markerlights. What that would mean is, get rid of the Pathfinders completely. Switch the Broadsides from AdvSS to TA (Since lately, that 6" hasn't made too much of a difference). Give the Warfish a TA and give it to the Fire Warriors. Which would leave me with roughly (doing the math in my head) 67 points. That's 6 more Fire Warriors and a Kroot Carnivore (add to Squad "Destroyer" for more Kroot Bomb).

The question I have, then, is if the majority of my models are BS4 or 5 (basically everything except the elite fireknives and the troops) and half of my BS4 is firing twinlinked weapons anyway... do I really NEED the pathfinders? Especially if they are getting blown up most of the time anyhow. So is a full blown fish of fury more deadly than basically some cover save denial now and then? (even then, I generally shoot at models in cover with Submunition and ABFP).

Also, bump because I posted this response at a weird time, and it ended up on page 2 with only 1 more view.
