I havn't seen a single plastic model in a WD mag in ages.

I'm wondering if this is only happening in Australia or is it the same in other countries.

Last one I can think of was the Assault on Black Reach release issue; which came with a Terminator and an Ork.

Thats why I think its odd.

I would have thought they would release a skaven and a high elf model with the Island of blood release but nothing.

They never did it that often anyway. Before the AoBR terminator there might have been something else but then then you have to go way back to get the Mordheim metal elf or metal necron.

Cardboard inserts though were a regular feature for several years and I guess they don't do them any more just because it's cheaper.

But didn't they release a goblin and dwarf figure with the battle for skull pass release and also template for mighty empires realese as well.

I honestly would buy a WD every month if they had figures in them.

Even the LOTR WD

They do this so that you never get any free stuff; when does GW ever do things like that?

I let my WD subscription run out a few years ago when they offered a "freebie" for renewing if you got it in by a certain date. A lot of folks got soon to be or recently OOP minis (some even entire unit boxes) from the army of their choice. I called to inquire why mine never came and was told it was because they processed my order after the suspense date passed. That is right it wasn't even my fault. Upon hearing that I told them to cancel my renewal and send me a refund.

The only free models i recall were the plastic dwarf and goblin from Skull Pass and the plastic Nob and Terminator from Black Reach. I thought there might be a skaven and high elf minature but tbh i wasn't that surprised there wasn't...

Back in 98 or so, if I recall, they also had a Bretonnian archer and Lizardmen Skink to coincide with the new Warhammer box set that was released at that time. Personally, it would take more than a freebie mini to entice me to buy another issue of White Dwarf anytime soon.

I think there was a skink back when (and i mean WAAAY back when.... (I still have him- cute little fella)

If they would release something that could ONLY be gotten through WD it would almost make it worth buying it.

(like a plastic Flash Git or a Tyranid Prime or whatever...)

But still only almost..

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

That was the case with the Mordheim figure they released, not just a generic plastic but a metal special character "Aenur". It did become available later through mail order for a period but it wasn't cheap.

What happened to figures coming with White Dwarf Magazine?

What happened to White Dwarf?

You pay 10 bucks or so for a sales catalogue, why would they give you anything but the obligatory propaganda that that entales?

What are you doing, buying WD for anyways? You need to take that money and just throw it in the toilet. At least then you could let it entertain you with a few turns before it goes down the drain.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
