A friend and I were just chatting and the question came up, has anyone ever painted a renegade SM army using the different loyalist chapters in their original chapter colors with only the chaprer icons scratched out etc. ?

There is no reason why you couldnt and actually that would be pretty neat to see..I havent really seen anything like that around at least.

That's why I was tossing around the idea fo doing one, because you never see one on the table. And if I would get bored painting one color of armour, I could just switch to something else.

The old Red Corsair army in the 3.5 Codex did this, with Crimson Fist, Dark Angels and Space Wolf examples.

Renegades =/= chaos

Renegades are anti-Imperium but also anti-chaos, so they are they're own faction.

I really haven't decided yet. Really leaning towards traitors though. I'm thinking of styling them after Huron blackhearts bunch.
