Subject: Deathwatch-themed Marine Army, all Volunteer Painted!
|
 |
Krazed Killa Kan
|
Hello Dakka!
I am planning an "all Sternguard" army utilizing Pedro Cantor. With some Vanguard Fast Attack. All the models in the army will come from different chapters. Yeah, 50+ different paint schemes I hope. Modeled it on the idea of the DeathWatch seconded to an Inquisitor or maybe a specialized Kill Team force. No Devastators, No actual Tacticals.. all Troops would be Sternguard. Very "Pricey" army with a low model count. I do not expect to win games with this, it would be done for "coolness" purposes. Scout Snipers will be the only "Official" Troops.
I am also TOTALLY aware that this is not "Deathwatch" as per official Fluff.. this is just my take on having an army of guys that looks VERY nifty on the tabletop.
Having dreamed THAT up, I decided I would be post this volunteer request. I am looking for folks to voluntarily paint me 1 marine, no basing. I could mail them a assembled Marine, and they would paint and lightly seal it. They would mail it back to me.. I would add a special shoulderpad to the model, and base it to be coherent with the rest of the force. I would also put the person who painted it as "Brother XXX" on the base. Like, Brother Gerry or Brother Fredette. I also will provide a shipping label and some cash to assist with mailing costs, should you wish. This is LIMITED TO THE USA. If you are outside the USA, and want to volunteer for this, PM me and we can talk.
So, to this end, I have now made up about a bunch of Sternguard types and some Vanguard Assault dudes and am working on finalizing the remainder of the models.
I am looking for "Codex" schemes at this time ONLY. Having said that, if you have a killer personal chapter who might like to join my team, I would certainly look at pictures and make a decision. Otherwise, I would like the paint to as closely match the 40kLexicanum link below each Chapter as possible. If you want to paint the base, please paint it ONLY the color of GW Bestial Brown.
Ideally I would like folks who already have a SM force in this paint scheme to claim a model.. going on the theory that an Imperial Fist player has experience painting IF, for example. I also would be willing to let 2 models go to a single person if they can do 2 schemes..
And.. any models you would be painting for me, I WILL be putting up here in this thread to show off!
Currently some chapters are spoken for, and the currently available list is this....
Sternguard-esque (all models are armed with basic bolters at this time, unless noted otherwise) (some models may need to be assembled unless you want me to do so ahead of time)
Got all!
And for the Vanguard types..
Got All!
and.. since I may end up playing these guys as vanilla marines once in a while, a Command Squad arises
Space Wolf
Already spoken for chapters that are "in process"-
Raven Guard
Guardians of the Covenant
Flesh Tearers
Knights of Gryphonne
White Minotaurs
Minotaurs
Imperial Fists
Chapters already received back..
Ultramarines
Blood Angels
Blood Drinkers
White Templars
Warmongers
Imperial Paladins
Fire Lords
Angels Porphyr
Black Templars
Howling Griffons
Blood Ravens
Silver Skulls
Celestial Lions
Angels Sanguine
Dark Angels
Mortificators
Doom Eagles
Salamanders
White Scars
Invaders
Iron Snakes
Sons of Orar
Angels Encarmine
Storm Wardens
Angels of Iron
Red Scorpions
Brazen Claws
Marines Malevolent
Iron Hands
Iron Fists
Star Dragons
Exorcists
Crimson Fists
Novamarines
Also, if anyone is willing to provide a model for a chapter not already listed above, and paint it, I would love that! My main request in that case would be that the models RIGHT shoulderpad, the one where squad markings would normally go, be NOT on the model. I have special DW shoulderpads from Chapterhouse I will be using on the model, and would have to have to bust a pad off your model to put mine on. Also, no basing beyond a black or brown flat color, and the model NEEDS to have a Helmet. No Bare Faces.
Lastly, I have one squad of Scout Snipers needing to be painted up. It is a squad of 6 models, with a Heavy Bolter.
At THIS point, the only models I need from other chapters and painters as donations, are VANGUARD models. I would need them with a Jump Pack, and Vanguard assault weaponry.. OR (big stretch) Combi-melta or Combi-flamer Marines.
Lastly, I need BOLD paint schemes.. nothing done with washes, or artfully done damage. I want these guys to look like they just got out of refurbishment. Not glossy and shiney, but crisp paint.
So having waded thru all that stuff, if anyone is interested in helping out with this wacky idea, send me a PM!
final note - I am actively looking for Games Workshop Old Metal Shoulderpads with Icons from the Aurora Chapter. (need 2)

If you want me to do a second guy, send me the silver skull, iron snake, or red wolf with the Get and I'll do him up. I'm also up for doing one of those purple guys (storm lords?), but I'm not good enough to do the freehand.
Figure out anything to do with those extra pads?

I might send you the Skull Bearer, if you are good with yellow.. the extra pads, may not get used.. the Warmonger above was the only chapter I could find that uses a sword thru a skull..

I could use a Marine, I'll PM you my address, and I would most likely end up freehanding it, I'll put an example of my free-handing to ease any worries you might have I can do an additional chapter as well, I've got some free time and I've always wanted to explore some of the more radical chapter schemes out there.

What an amazing idea and concept. Im fully in. Me and Brother Heinrich are roomates for address purposes. I will gladly do a Iron Hands, Mortifactors, or Flesh Tearer, Marine for you. Brother Heinrich can attest to my skills with a brush. Though Im not as good as him I can make you one amazing marine. lol.
If you can send me a marine with the chapter you want (or two) and me and Brother Heinrich can make you some Deathwatch you'll be proud of.
Remember just use Brother Heinrich's address and really I'll do any chapter you need but would preffer ther 3 posted above.
Again great idea and fun way to bring the forum together.

If you'd be prepared to send me a Salamander Marine across the pond I would be more than happy to paint and convert it into a sergeant or melta/flamer marine. I could give the marine a dragon head back pack (converted from SM backpack and chaos lascannon lizard heads).
I'll PM you to see if we could sort something out. It would have to be in three weeks time because I'll be away from my computer for that length of time.

I am down to just a few "pre-built" marines.. however, I still am looking for homebrew chapters that a painter can send me a model to represent.. even from overseas!
However, my stock of parts on hand has depeleted to the point where I just have the 6 guys above left (and 2 of those are still in progress)..
Anyone willing to donate some SM legs?? (grin)

If you want, I can try to paint a DIY chapter of my own origin. It would give me the chance to paint some guys, would you just need a tactical marine?

OK, this sounds like a laugh I'm willing to donate a Bloodfist, check my imperial thread for details, note that in my fluff vets wear robes/loinclothes/capes/tabards etc. or you could have a standard marine if wanted. I'll provide model if you let me know what sort of load-out you want. As long as you're not desperate for him in the next couple of days - I'm pretty slow with painting. I'll send a PM.

Asherian, I sent you a PM..
For anyone else looking.. I am down to accepting only Vanguard Vets with Jump Packs and Assault Weaponry as donations.. regular Sternguard I think I have maxed out on.
Also now settled on older metal Scouts with Sniper Rifles to field compulsory troop choices.. unless someone can suggest fluffier ideas for my Troops..
I don't really want to use basic Marines for my troops.. as I think it would be REALLY confusing. Doin the whole "counts as Sternguard" for the project kinda eliminates that as an option.
