I've decided to revamp my Tau and try to return to playing 40k recently. So I've begun the process of reposing/rebasing/remodeling/repainting my old black/yellow "Black Sheep Squadron" Tau into a mountain/snow themed force. I've gone with white for obvious reasons, but then used an od green-ish color to mix in a little 1940s feel to the Fire Warriors.

I've still got a long way to go.....

The plasma gun looks a little odd, but everything else looks awesome! Great snow camo and bases. I'm looking forward to seeing the tanks.

Honestly, the white is a bit chunky. I would thin your paints a bit build in layers rather than the single, thick coat that it looks like you used.

That said, they look good so far, and I love the bases.

+1

Looks like you had a spot of trouble on the shoulder pad symbols for that reason. Let it down a touch more than you already are, and it should pretty much coat the symbols to the edge cleanly without too much effort on your part.

I really do love the railgun sqaud though. So pretty!

Repaint of my Hammerhead, sans spoilers this time as that seems to make people happier.

RE: Paint thining: Not a whole lot I can do on some of the models, they didn't strip very well so it's over my older, heavier coat.

I've been disappointed that there isn't a more MI based army in 40k. So, with the fluff being that the Gue'vesa are considered highly valuable allies in the Tau Empire, it goes to reason they would eventually be trained to be battlesuit pilots. So, needing to bulk up my crisis suits I've chosen to incorporate some of the very excellent Rackham Steel Trooper models as a Gue'vesa battlesuit squad.

With the problem of the thin antennas, I've chosen to remove them from the gun drones (I'll likely keep them for Shield Drones, and maybe Marker Drones, but for Gun Drones I think I actually like this better).

Some updates.

I've opted to do a Farsight Enclave army, and have stripped the UNA models down to load them up as a dual flamer unit. Then I've completed the first of a dual plasma squad, and the second of my fireknives.

Some Mk1 Gue'vesa suits with flamers:

Not the greatest ever, but I like them. These are the first 'trees' I've built, and so the color isn't quite perfect for Aspen trees, but I have some ideas for how to do them better next time.

Next is the first of my dual plasma suits. The hand isn't as big as it looks in the photo, I think it's the angle. I used a great tutorial to build them that can be found here:
http://www.40kglobal.com/2013/07/01/the-captains-table-pimp-your-tau-crisis-suit/

I tried to pose it in a sort of 'hold position' pose, signaling to the Tau around him.

Lastly is the second of my Fireknives, just launching himself skyward.

That rifle looks great, as well as the camouflage scheme. I also really like the Stealth Suits in the terrain, and you've nailed the snow effect, too.
