Hi there during one of my recent games, I made good use of popping smoke to obscure a couple of rhinos transporting their precious cargo of tactical squads, whilst making a dash across the board.

Unfortunately I didnt have anything to represent the smoke screen around the tanks, what if anything do you use to represent smoke, I dont want to just bung some cotton wool on the table for two reasons, 1. it looks pants, and 2. bits of it stick to the static grass on the board.

Any suggestions with pics would be cool, thank you.

Grab some steel wool and tear off bits to look like smoke, then spray one end white from a distance.

I use the GF9 ones (the old ones that had the three layered smoke wall with one in front and one behind.) not the current one:

You can't see the one behind, so I removed both smaller ones onto some WHFB regiment bases (100x25mm), so a single pack gave me 6 walls of smoke not 2.

I've seen someone use painted cotton blobs. Very realistic, especially since his tanks were customized to accomodate them (he had normal Smoke screen in grey to white, and red/orange smoke for destroyed tanks).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I would use cotton balls. If you lose then they are cheap to replace and you can pick them up anywhere.

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

The title is a bit misleading
Anyways
You can actually use alot of stuff... (maybe real smoke?)
You could use steel wool, cotton balls, markers, Armorcast muzzle blasts etc. etc. etc.

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

Make your own cardboard or sheet plastic markers. Wide and fluffy looking for obscuring smoke, tall and billowy for destroyed. Paint to match.

A new day, a new time zone.

I glued cotton balls to electric tea candles, shaped them into clouds, and then hit them with a spray on adhesive and a black spray paint. When they're off, they represent smoke launchers in use. When I turn them on, you've got flickering orange light coming from within, making for a very nice looking destroyed tank marker.
