I just got done (or somewhat) with my second army and don't really want to work on orks or IG(my next armies). So I decided to do another race and pondered for 3 days on what to do. I narrowed it down to two. DE and Eldar. Hard to decide which one. What do you think? (Mainly want to have a bike kinda army)

I currently play Eldar, and while they're a great army, the points-costs and some of the models are a bit dated. Sadly this is especially true of the jetbikes. If you're wanting a fast bike army, stick with DE.

Reavers look like fun but not the most points-efficient unit in the codex (I've been drooling over it for months now, about to start DE with my next big spending-money splurge). Hellions look really good when accompanied by the Baron. The Phantasm launcher, re-rolls for difficult terrain and HnR, and bones of the seer are all more than worth the 105 points, plus you get a decent boost to your CC ability. That's be a nice core for a fast-moving army.

If you _do_ decide on Eldar, try not to be too committed to the jetbikes as lovely new models are very likely with a new codex in a year or two. You're probably better served sticking to Mechdar (plays well and models unlikely to be replaced). Gets a little boring though, TBH...

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

BOTH!!!

With a little kit-bashing i'm pretty sure you can make a corsair force.
Then, depending on what mood your in, play your army of choice. DE or Eldar.

Dire avenger/guardian/trueborn/warrior models
Wych/bloodbride/storm guardian/banshee models
vyper/venom

Theres others, although you'd need a few specialist pieces, like vehicles and HQ's...
Although meching up isn't the only way!

Eldar can do an entirely jetbike army, but it would be extremely expensive, and not all that good in gameplay. If you just want to paint jetbikes, the DE reaver bikes look nicer, and are slightly cheaper, but also not very good in gameplay terms (though better than guardian jetbikes, I believe).

I dont know if you want to be fielding an all jetbike army either way but Eldar can have 3 different types of jetbikes, 4 if you count vypers. Guardians for anti infantry shooting, Shining spears for assualtyness, Seer Council for psykic HQ nastiness, and some vypers and prisms for heavy weapons.

I dont think it would be uber competitive but it would be a lot of fun to play and would look really cool.

DE on the other hand can only field reavers, which are not great but not terrible. You would have to come up with something else for the troops, HQ, and rest of the army

If your looking to run a pure bike army, DE are not the way to go. We can only take a fast attack choice, Reavers, for bikes. Anything else would be on foot or in transports.

If you can expand a bit on what you would like besides a bike army, I am sure a few of us DE players could help you narrow down your ideas for a DE list.

For the Eldar though, guardian jetbikes, shining spears, and a jet council would give you your bike army covering all your basic FOC and your fast attack.

Best DE advice ever!!!

You're going to get violated, and your best bet is to go willingly to get it over with faster.

And on a totally different topic:

While DE only has the Reaver for a jetbike unit, it does have a lot of units that mesh really nicely with the Jetbike style. They have Raiders, Ravagers, and two fliers, as well as Hellions. (Like the Green Goblin.) Essentially, you can have a fast, jetbikey feeling army, and yet, still be able to throw some really awesome troops onto the table without feeling like you are getting away from the jetbike feel.

Oh, and the raider is just awesome looking, and fun to put together.

This. Lots of sleek, fast moving skimmers.

Whether you want a strong army, or a nice looking one to assemble and paint, I think DE generally win out in both categories at the moment.

That is all dependant on personal preferances. Eldar and DE can have very different styles. Personnally i like both equally, but i know many people who only like one or the other. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

As for a stong army... They both can be, DE can dish out more pain, and Eldar are more forgiving and durable. I never really though i'd describe Eldar as "forgiving and durable" but with DE if you make one mistake it can turn your game into a loss very quickly. Their strength is directly linked to player skill, unlike some armies that are pretty simple in concept. Personally i prefer the Eldar strengths just a little bit more than DE.

Well it really depends if you're more interested in the aesthetics or the gameplay.

If its aesthetics, then only you can really decide.
If its gameplay, then DE. As said before, the Eldar can have an all jetbike army, but its effectiveness would be very limited. You would have to incude some tanks to get a proper result.

The DE do have many units looking like jetbikes, and their new codex gives them the advantage over Eldar.

But who knows? Maybe the Eldar have a new codex coming some time soon...

I take that back, I really don't want a all jetbike army, i want just an army that would be somewhat funner (i'm thinking eldar)
