I guys, I recently stumbled on to some miniatures that I later found out were made by a company called Rackham which I had never heard of before. I little research turned up some of the most beautiful figures I have ever seen, I immediately fell in love with a number of them!
Then, in doing some more research, specially in regards to where to buy these figures, I found a mention of the company being liquidated...

Is this true? Are the going to stop selling the figures? Are they going to be selling the rights to the figures to other companies? Should I be buying as many figures as I can now, before they all disappear? Are they going to all disappear? Help?!

They(Rackham) stopped selling and producing figures last year.
And if it's metal, they stopped selling those YEARS ago.

 Rackham's closed.

Yeah, Rackham stopped selling those beautiful models a long time ago in favour of pre-painted plastics. Which ended up putting them out of business.

I think being bought and sold by so many different owners did that more than metal purists being stubborn. If what you said was true, AT -43 wouldn't have kept them alive for the years it did. However, this isn't the place to rehash this argument AGAIN.

									Oh my goodness :(
I especially loved the confrontation (?) wolfen models... does anyone else know of a manufacturer of good werewolf-esque models?

You could always Ebay some of the Rackham stuff. I also think there are a few sites that have some of those old metals for sale.
I know Reaper Mini has some decent werewolves. Not quite up to Rackham quality, but still pretty nice.

									Hello,
You can still find Rackam on ebay, or on some trading sites, however it is going to be at a premium price point, and those that are not are probably knockoffs (expect bad moulding and lots of flash). That said if you dont mind they are out there. It was stated that the moulds were destroyed, but I have seen some more unusual things happen.

 Regards,
 Carl

No, spraying three colors on your minis does not count as painted! 5k+

There's a local store here that still has a more than decent sized collection of the metals(as well as a 10% military discount that I get thanks to my wife). As long as people aren't looking for Devourers, I'm willing to spend their money.

yeah, I found some on ebay, I just can't justify spending 30 bucks for something I wouldn't be using in my army... sigh, ah well...
Why would they destroy the molds? That's just dumb... not to mention dashing my final hope of a confrontation restoration...

 Regards,

If by destroyed, you mean every single master mold may possibly be owned by Jean Bey and possibly in his house, then yes, they were destroyed. |

Because those old (amazing and largely unmatched) molds were made when Rackham was under its original management. When the original owner lost control of the company, the new bean counters decided that prepainted was the way to go. Seeing no more profitable use from the molds, they decided to destroy them.
Of course, that's just what I've gathered from reading the occasional Rackham topic on Dakka. I've not been around long enough to know about the entire issue in depth.

No, they didn't. When they bought the company, they didn't buy the molds. At least according to a certain founder of the company. Not that I spent any time with Jean Bey, Paolo Parente, and company at Gencon in 2009.
