Subject: Rokkit Launchas on my Boyz mobs?

Hey guys, quick discussion.
Gonna be expanding on my orks pretty soon (into a fairly typical Kan Wall/Dread Bash list). Anyways, about a year or two ago when I was getting into playing with my Ork army, I was basically told to avoid RLs on my 20-strong Shoota boy mobs, and just go with Big shootas to enhance the anti-infantry shredding dakka, because it's cheaper, and makes the boys become better at what they already do (anti-infantry), as opposed to only a couple Hail Mary BS2 shots at the side of a tank, while wasting 40-something shots from the rest of the boys, essentially "wasting" firing efficiency.
However now, Im thinking my orks are sorely lacking in anti-tank (as they always have been), and noticed lately more people seem to advocate using Rokkit launchas on their usual boy mobs (on top of the deffkoptas, warbuggies and killa kans toting the same). So my question is, are rokkit launchas actually feasible to use in Ork boy mobs now?
Cheers.

BS2 rokkits that aren't twin-linked on boyz who should either be laying into infantry or more likely running to get towards combat are a mistake.
Lootas seem to be the anti-tank you're missing.
You'll have plenty of kans to deal with AV14 (STR10 DCCWs), and Lootas handle all the transports.

Cheers as always, Dash.
Im about to order some more Boyz, so I was only pondering what to do with the special weapons when I make the Shoota mobs. Just wanted to make sure if I should be giving them the tried and true BS or maybe try something new with the RL

Big shootas rock! I would like to add that I play a kan wall often and do not believe in all rokkits on the kans. I also use slugga boys instead of shootas. I do this because my kans and boys run - not shoot. I use lootas, buggies, and koptas for shooting attacks. Kans are awesome against shooting with a KFF covering them. Kans can be outright ridiculous when in CC and safe from shooting.
Want to put a stop to BA jump pack assault? Charge with kans. No FNP and tough enough to last. Even if there is a sarge with a powerfist at best he will only kill one kan a turn - while you're killing a couple of marines a turn. And also blocking shots to your boys with the CC.
Also, if you have to shoot, big shoota kans are not bad. The number of shots and rate make them effective at taking down trukks, raiders, venoms, war walkers, sentinels (not that anyone uses these anymore,) and can put wounds on dev/long fang squads.

Presuming your kans will have rokkits (as Dash would also advise, based on previous posts) that seems a better place to maximise your AT firepower.
Big shootas won't do vast amounts of damage, but do give some nice longish-range anti-infantry shooting while da boyz are advancing.

Mobs of shoota boyz with big shootas are pretty good objective campers, take a mob of 20 minimun with big shootas, dump them on an objective (preferably with cover) and try to keep them alive as long as possible! they pump out a ridiculous number of shots, but few will hit.
Rokkits on the other hand are not for slugga boyz mobz as you want to be running and killing infantry. However, if you decide for some reason the best way to kill tanks is to glance it to death with a pk-nob-slugga-mob, then take rokkits in the mob, yes they aren't going to hit but there is that extra chance that you *may* immobilise the vehicle before you assault it, thus keeping it in combat, rather than it simply driving off at the beginning of your opponent's turn!

If I may, i find that 30 boys with three rokkitz in them have been working surprisingly well. I played against my own mech eldar army with a tough opponent behind them and had huge succes with taking them down with rokkitz from boyz mobs. But also when i play against orks with the eldar i contantly get hammered by rokkitz from mobs. But then again dash is right, you want to have those lootas/koptaz/buggies to help out a lot, I just want to put in that it CAN work with rokkitz in your mobs, but then again try a test game and see what you like or not.

I use rokkitz also and found them to be useful. Now they arent really a primary AT weapon, buts its more of a just in case sort of thing.
And you can shoot it at infantry for instant death stuff. Also they come in handy when facing MCs.

I wouldn't put rokkits in a mob (unless specifically trying to spam them as much as possible throughout the list) for the very reason you were initially hesitant: If you need rokkit shots, you're wasting all of the shootas. If you take rokkit shots, you're keeping yourself from running towards CC/cover/objectives. Sticking with big shootas lets you play the mob how it works best - move -> run, move -> shoot -> assault, repeat either earlier step as warranted, and, finally, swarm objective and dakka away.
