So who is gonna start a GK army on the side?

You always hear of people starting a tyranid army, a necron army, a dark eldar army, or a tau army on the side.

But now you can get a relatively small marine army that is supposedly cheaper to buy and can be competitive.

So admit it, who is starting a GK army for funsies?

I might, but I want to break into dark eldar.

I think I am. My IG army is mostly finished, I need a couple of conversions and quite a bit of painting to do, but it's mostly done at 2000 points.

I want a small, elite force that's great at CC and shooting at the same time (I like the CC part) to contrast with my IG. I'm thinking getting 500ish points worth of stuff and seeing how it goes from there. The only reason I'm considering this is because I would make a pimptastic terminator army, low model count = lower cost in money.

I'm interested in converting a few of my Deathwing units over to Grey Knights (switching SB/PF for SB/NFS) or buying a few new AoBR Terminator sets to upgrade. Maybe order a Stormraven and a Dreadknight for support and convert myself an HQ. I'll wait to see a PDF of the final codex before deciding though.

Black Widow Assault Cadre 2000 Points (Under Renovation- Playable) Win-4 Lose-5 Draw-1
Storm Angels 1st Company 2500 Points (DA Codex) (Under Renovation - Playable) Win-3 Lose-4 Draw-3
Corsairs of Fate 1750 Points (Under Construction - Playable) Win-2 Lose-3 Draw-1
Protectorate of Menoth 11 Points (Project Delayed Indefinitely) Win-1 Lose-3 Draw-0
Imperial Guard Regiment (Unnamed) 1000 Points (Project Delayed Indefinitely)
Cygnar 25 Points (Planned) Win-0 Lose-0 Draw-0

Last Game(s): The Spearhead Annihilation Battle between my Storm Angels First Company (Dark Angels) and Skystompa's Waagghh! (Blood Angels) resulted in a MAJOR VICTORY!

Gonna buy a box or two of the terminators for my Deathwing but that's about it.
And MAYBE a box of the PAGK for veterans.

I had a small GK terminator force back during the allies rule, complete with Stern. I'll likely turn it into a full force now.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I will be using my very detailed Black Templar Army as Grey Knights to playtest before buying a single model. I am currently having an ABSOLUTE blast building and playing my Tau right now. I know, who would have thought?

I have no need to.

I ALREADY have a 3500 pt GK army (with an extra 750 pts of borrowed IG ST as ISTs).

Might add a couple of units to it though.

Building a SR, not buying that model as I'm not a fan of the stormguppy.

The DK needs an armoured shell for the baby carrier.

I was considering it, as it seemed like I could make a small and characterful army using the Paladins with their special character to make them troops. Turned out to be too strong and not too fun to play with the test (rather it got boring fast having nothing die at all), special character was Draigo who one shotted a HT every game and it works out to be $333 here for 20 plastic guys.

No, I will not build up a GK army.
My projects are building up DE (selling the old models at ebay) and painting Orks (Kan wall).

Actually, I'm thinking about selling the old metal Grey Knights that I've got, for several reasons. I could use the money, and with the new Codex coming out I'm sure to find a buyer. Also, I find myself focusing a lot more on Fantasy rather than 40K these days, and if I get anything else I'd rather build up my Lizardmen some more and finish my Orks first. I dunno.

Ouze on GW: "I'd like to be like, hey baby, you're a freak but you just got too much crazy going on, and I don't hook up with bunny boilers. But then Necrons are going to come out, and I'm going to be like damn girl, and then next thing you know, it's angry sex time again.

It's complicated."

I might get a box of the termies down the track, but not at local prices (5 metals for that price I can almost understand. 5 plastic models? Not on your life.)

If local trends can be followed, there is about to be a glut of DE models hitting the resale market. So they can afford to buy the GK.
Local noobs have only just realised that they are just as much the glass cannon as they used to be, and can't be played like marines.

Considering it. For the cost per box you get an obscene amount of components (over 100 in the PAGK box alone) which should make for very individualistic models.

That and the silvery-blue paint scheme is a massive departure from my Cadians.

Oh, and I have a 1750 Khorne Daemon army that would make for some very cinematic battles. =D

Yeah... I kinda want to. The plastic GKT's have me sold. The PAGK's can also look good if the poses are right. I don't like the Dreadknight, but I don't completely hate it either. I think it can be slavaged.

Now I have to plan it in a way that it doesn't get out of hand.

I was certainly considering it, but I doubt I will after seeing the rules etc.

If I do though, it would be focussed around some (lovely) GKT's...
