I painted this as a commission for a guy last year, but since I haven't posted anything here yet I figure this is as good a place to start as any:



This was one of the first minis where I tried my hand at blending on the mini itself. Before that, I'd just layer thin paints until I got the color I wanted, but it was fun to try something new...especially since (without an airbrush) large flat surfaces are the bane of my existence.

One of these days I'll learn how to take decent pictures.

Gorgeous. Really love those reds. I'm just starting painting a BA army, and settling on my colors/technique, so this is very inspiring.

Heh, I actually took those pictures before I sealed it, so it wasn't that glossy when he got it in the mail.

I use craft paints...I'm not sure how helpful I can be with that.

only craft paints? wow... I seem to remember you mentioning that back on BandC, I guess you never got tempted to the Vallejo or P3 side eh???

Call me an unbeliever, but... you didn't happen to use Army Painter dip, or some sort of wood stain, did you?
