I would love to know who would really like to see it come back.
Loved the show and movie. then it hit me awhile back. Wash, Shepard Book
and Mr. Universe all being killed will obviously change what happens next. really
Wash dying kinda gave me the impression it was to end that way, the tale i mean.
and i honestly don't think i can handle any more prequels. what do you folks think?

I think if they are able to bring it back they should sort of ignore Serenity like say the Highlander TV series ignored the first 3 movies... or come up with an explanation that allows Serenity to be the final episode of the series. I would prefer they ignore the actual events of Serenity because Whedon had originally intended that storyline to playout during season 2.

Aye, they need to bring it back, but what they should do with the story is leaving me in a cunundrum.

If it was meant to be Season 2, I think it should remain, honestly. Wash and Book dying was bad, but not much you can do about it, and its not like they can't bring new talent in.

Feel sorry for Alan Tydik and the guy who plays Book. To have such a huge cult following and not be able to continue on with the series :/

You know i keep hearing it was suposed to be season 2, but it reminds me more of the 2 part Serenity episodes. namely the Reaver part.

Who knows, maybe Tydik wanted out? i always enjoyed his character/humor.

Books character had much more under the surface. Remember how he was treated at the hospital? He had priority clearence. I think he was ment to end up the assassin from Serenity but was rewrote for the movie. I don't see firefly coming back without Wash and book, successfully.

When Wash dies I really thought they were going for the Blakes 7/Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid ending.

So I was really disappointed at how for the last half hour it became a generic action movie, complete with Mal beating a guy he never should have beaten and everyone surviving a fight they never should have won.

So in my imagination the last 10 minutes are Mal's daydream while he bleeds to death.

Were it to come back I would like them to ignore the movie and pick up where the show ended. treat the movie as a future event they may or may not get to.

there were a lot of mysteries like Shepard Book that had to be dropped to make the film work and I'd hate to see them disappear.

As much as i really liked the movie, you're so right about the last half hour! the way River was able to fight and kill ALL the Reavers was my way OTT moment.

See, I didn't have a huge problem with that. Even in the series River was portrayed as a sort of game breaker (not in a physical sense, granted), much like Whedon portrayed Willow in Buffy. I can get into the idea of a character that is a walking god plagued by her own powers. Hell, I think its really the only way to make that a god-like character function.

Either way, I do agree with Kyoto's sentiment that Mal should have died, maybe even in success, if the movie was to be the end of the series. In fact, if I were going to present the movie as a climax, I would have basically set it up in the same way, but for the death of Jayne prior to the door lock, and the ambiguous death of River when the Alliance broke down the wall. Maybe attach a scene where Zoe is led away in captivity.

Firefly ended well, and there wouldn't be much scope to continue it in it's old format. Thus they should bring in a spin-off series, "The River Tam Adventures".

To be honest 4-5 years ago it would have been a great idea to bring it back, but it has been way too long to get all the cast back, and capture the awesomeness of the show.

It was wrong to close it down when it stopped.
But I have it on DVD and it is awesomesauce.

As much as I love the show.

I would prefer if it stayed gone.
It was good, and now it's over, they didn't spoil it and it didn't drag on too long.

Look at battlestar galaxtica,it was good in the old days, then they ruined it with remakes and stuff, the sad part is I can't even find the original anymore,it's just buried under the new one.

Now I know nobody would want that to happen to Firefly.

It's just been too long now I think. They could have easily resurrected it at the time of cancellation but we got the film instead and that's more than could be hoped for really. I'd love to see more, but not if the cast have aged too much and can't be brought together effectively, especially as two characters have been killed off.

They can still do that after 2-3 more seasons.

I voted yes, but it doesn't have to be the TV series. I can handle a sequel to the movie.

I see the crew still scrapping out a living, things don't change that fast, with the alliance still trying to put a stop to the unrest created from the first movie. Mal gets another call from Inara only to be warned by the operative now turned shepherd that it is another trap. Through out the movie, the crew, now with Inara, avoids capture and keeps hearing about a mystery man leading a rebellion against the alliance. The name of the mystery man becomes the symbol of the rebellion and freedom and is related to Mal's past. By the end of the movie, we find out the mystery leader is actually the old operative/new shepherd, but needs Mal to join the cause and explains that the ideal/symbol/mystery leader (ala Santiago or the Hunger Games) is what is really leading the rebellion.

Love firefly voted no.

You could bury it in the old pet cemetery and hope it comes back, but it would come back as an abomination.

Wheresoever on TV Summer Glau doth appear, whether as regular or recurring character, cancellation follows.

She was on Big Bang, and that didn't get cancelled.

But Dollhouse, Terminator, The Cape - even Firefly itself - all gone.

alarmingrick wrote:Restart from where they left off, or a fresh rewrite?

From where they left off during the series, not the movie. Built up to the movie.

To use G1 Transformers as a (bad) example, have two seasons pre-movie, and one season post-movie. Think of the existing episodes as the first half of the first season.

I think they could do a bridging film between the series and the film. Be good to focus on Book's background a bit and see why he left. Has to be a better effort than the comics though...

I thought the graphic novels released that bridge between end of tv series, and start of film explain it a bit-he was ex parliment or similar?

I watched the entire series on thursday, again on friday, and serenity on sat night.

Aparently a picture was posted of jayne, mal, wash and whedon on the bridge of what looked like serenity-very recently

The only thing I'd like to see from Firefly is a type of "Firefly: The Next Generation." There's no reason to bring back Serenity, and the setting is rich enough that you could have another story without requiring the original cast.

Not that I didn't like the original cast, it's just hard to have people 5-10 years older playing the same character.
