I am looking at making chains for my skaven slaves. I will actually be using various models from other armies, dwarves, men, goblins, etc. I think it would look better if each model is chained to the one next to him. Has anyone done anything like this. I thought about using green stuff, but I have never used it before and not sure if it would work at such a small scale. Any guidance would be appreciated.

You can use actual chains used for necklaces and such. They're already small that they can stand for their bigger counterparts. Just go the shops where they sell beads and necklaces, and buy it in bulk.

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess.

If you have any well stocked hobby shops near you, go to the sections where they sell items for making model ships, like sail boats and such. Then you can find scale anchor chain, it goes down to incredibly small sizes and looks very good, that is what I used on the wrists of this big fella;

Yeah, although it is kinda awkward walking into womens clothes shops alone, eyes on the floor, mumbling to the assistant where the stuff with chains are, then picking up about 7 necklaces, taking them all to the checkout, and leaving again almoth without a word. I need to get some friends.

Hobby shop scale ship builder chains are the ones i would go for. You can get really small links with those. I use them to chain up my Black templar weapons. You can get good sized ones from arts and craft jewelry making sections but Ive never gotten them as small as from the hobby shops.

Small-time jewelry supply stores on places like Etsy and Ebay are great places to pick up thin chain on the cheap. It saves you the trouble of milling about the woman's jewelry section, saves you money (if you can get a good rate on shipping), and gives you a wider selection of metals, finishes, sizes, lengths, etc. I snagged more aged brass chain than I'll likely ever use for modeling for all of $3, since I tacked it on to a larger order to save on shipping.

Plus, actual chain (as opposed to sculpted) is more flexible, in both senses of the word. You can let it drape and swing naturally by only attaching key points, or you can secure each link at a specific angle with a dab of glue, allowing for dynamic mid-swing/-stride/-fall poses.

If you're a guy, just say you're getting it for your girlfriend. Or just say you love necklaces, period. Or tell the truth that you're using them to represent chains for miniatures.

I mean, I made a guy friend buy a free cup bra and a girl friend buy a crotch guard (both for armor projects we're doing). I think that's more awkward.

Not awkward unless they had to measure the dude's cup size...

As for chain, if you really don't want to use metal chain, may I suggest getting a ton of the chains that come in the rat ogres/giant rats boxed set, or perhaps the new DE sprues will provide enough?

These were all very helpful. I think I am going to buy a brass chain necklace off amazon and use that as the chain. My next problem is how to connect it to each model. I have thought taking a link and breaking it and wrapping around the models wrist. I'll do that unless someone know a way to fashion something that can go around the neck. I think this would look better. I have not done much of this before so I don't have a lot of experience with modeling. If anyone knows of a fairly eat way to make these changes I'll try that.

I second this. I buy jewelry chains from Hobby Lobby. They are pretty cheap. You can find them where the beads, etc. are.
