Ehe, I was just reading through the new codex and I found a rather funny...pure RaW thingie. Personal teleporters: "Units with personal teleporters are jump infantry"...(Goes onto the shunt rules) So with this...how does it acts with the Dreadknight and can a unit have 2 unit types? Does he: 1: Turn into jump infantry, losing his MC status? 2: Turn into jump infantry, but also keeps his MC status, following the rules for both. (Important for things like the Wolf Priest's thingie) 3: Doesn't turn into jump infantry but simply moves like one, still a bad-ass MC. (Important for Jaws) I guess it will be played like #3, but it could be interesting to see what the RaW-experts say.

What does adding wings to a MC generally do, like with tyranids or daemon princes? I can't recall the exact wording, though I know that those move like jump infantry at least. I imagine it's the same with the dreadknight's teleporters.

As it stands the DK loses its MC status when it becomes JI. So it no longer ignores armour or rolls 2d6 armour pen. But since it always has a doomfist you get S10 ignoring armour anyway so not such a great loss in order to gain mobility and the ability to get cover saves like infantry

Funny too, in that case he have to stay stationary to fire any of his weapons, losing relentless sort of hurts. (But I'd gamble that it gets played/ FaQ'ed as "normal" flying MC's)

Well that depends on the weapons you give him you don't have to give him a ranged weapon at all and theres certainly no point giving him 2 guns as he can now only fire 1.
Yes we all know how it will be FaQ'd.

I dunno that this interpretation is correct.
Space marine IC's do not lose IC status just because they buy a Bike (and become bike troops) or Jump Packs (becoming jump infantry)
Are MC and Jump Infantry status mutually exclusive? Why would granting one negate the other? There is nothing in the rulebook stating you cannot be both OR MORE IMPORTANTLY nothing in the rulebook states that if you become Jump Infantry all other statuses are lost.
I dont buy this one at all...'specially since it's so obviously sheisty.
(this is the reason that GW is constantly dumbing the game down...cause some guys need it)

I completely agree. I havnt read the GK codex yet, but Id put money down that it DOESNT say that taking the teleporters ignores the MC rules. Where are you getting that one? Again, havnt read it, but that just sounds made up

Oscarius did they actually keep that in the Final Codex; or were you looking through the leaked dex?
I noticed it in the leaked dex.
And yes RAW; a MC that becomes jump infantry Loses MC(This is Why Wings in every other codex just make you Move As JI) as it becomes Jump Infantry. Same as Adding a bie to an IC makes that IC now Bikes, and not Infantry, or adding a Jump pack to an IC makes them Jump infantry and not infantry.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

So wrong for so many reasons. IC is a special rule not a unit type. SM IC that buy bikes do not change unit type they are still infantry (and therefore can still embark transports) and jump packs simply make you move as jump infantry not become jump infantry. You can't be both JI and an MC they are mutually exclusive as it stands the DK with teleporter is JI and therefore not an MC anymore.

Ohh, we got some discussion going. Deadshane1 wrote:I dunno that this interpretation is correct. Space marine IC's do not lose IC status just because they buy a Bike (and become bike troops) or Jump Packs (becoming jump infantry) Nope, because "Independant Character" isn't a unit type, it's a special rule. Deadshane1 wrote: Are MC and Jump Infantry status mutually exclusive? Why would granting one negate the other? Like I said, I'm not completely sure yet. #2 is still an option you know. BUT, do Assault marines keep their Jump Infantry status when removing their packs? I noticed it in the leaked dex. "Leaked" dex as in the photocopy of the black box dex or leaked as in the faulty scribd version. Tbh. I havn't seen it in person, could someone help us?

Yes they do so can never embark on a transport even without JPs. It makes the transport option rather redundant.

How about waiting to argue about potential loopholes in a codex until most people have the ability to read the codex on a regular basis.
Its one thing if you actually want to ask a rules question, but as of now its like you're just trying to throw a hornet's nest into a movie theater.
The leaked codex is rather different than the final version, so a lot of commentary you're going to get back on this matter is going to be simply misinformed.
So again: if you have any actual questions, about the rule you read in the codex it wouldn't be terrible to post it, but let's steer clear from any ' RAW fun' gobble-dee-[ see forum posting rules] until people actually have the book in their hands (not just a store copy they're trying to remember from) to discuss with.
